A congresswoman said she plans to file articles of impeachment against Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem after a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent shot and killed a woman in Minneapolis on Wednesday, sparking fury from protesters and condemnation from Democratic leaders.

"I will be filing Articles of Impeachment against Kristi Noem. I’ve had enough. She has turned ICE into a rogue force, violating the Constitution, tearing families apart, and leaving death in her wake," U.S. Representative Robin Kelly, an Illinois Democrat, announced on X.

Renee Nicole Good, 37, was identified as the woman fatally shot by an ICE officer in Minneapolis during the Trump administration’s latest immigration crackdown, a killing federal officials said was carried out in self-defense in response to an "act of domestic terrorism." Videos captured by bystanders showed Good's vehicle driving toward an agent and turning to speed away when the officer shot into the vehicle multiple times.

Threat? Noem can't open her mouth without being caught in an easily debunked lie.

[–] finallymadeanaccount@lemmy.world 22 points 4 months ago (2 children)

Any more filler and botox, she won't be able to open it at all.

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 10 points 4 months ago

Don't threaten us with a good time.

She does always sound like she is speaking through a mouthful of marbles.

[–] X@piefed.world 58 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Unsurprisingly, that won’t do shit.

[–] metallic_substance@lemmy.world 13 points 4 months ago (2 children)

Yes, nothing will happen because we're literally living out the plot of Idiocracy

[–] dickalan@lemmy.world 54 points 4 months ago (1 children)

no

That’s not true at all.

In Idiocracy, the president and his cabinet put their smartest people (well, person) in charge with zero pushback and listened to and trusted expert opinion. When a policy failed (Brawndo went out of business and took the economy with it), there was swift punishment for those directly responsible, and when policy succeeded (crops were growing), they quickly pivoted and elevated those responsible. In Idiocracy, the most competent people were put in charge.

What we have is MUCH worse; people stupid and short-sighted enough to destroy everything in the name of ego and greed, and just smart enough to be successful in their destruction of our societies, governments and planet.

I would much rather be in Idiocracy if I’m being honest. At least those people were trying their best; can’t fault them for that.

[–] TrillianAstra@piefed.blahaj.zone 4 points 4 months ago

Yeah I've been saying this for a while, Idiocracy would be much more preferable, and President Camacho would be better than any president since my parents were born at least. We're getting the George Orwell / Philip K Dick future, which is like the worst one.

[–] X@piefed.world -2 points 4 months ago

Exactly this. Only difference is Joe and Rita got a good ending, one I don’t think we’re going to get.

" Videos captured by bystanders showed Good's vehicle driving toward an agent and turning to speed away when the officer shot into the vehicle multiple times."

This entire administration "faces impeachment threat" for one thing or another. Wake me up when the ball actually starts rolling.

[–] ouRKaoS@lemmy.today 16 points 4 months ago

Forget the ball, I want to see heads rolling!

[–] SarcasticMan@lemmy.world 24 points 4 months ago

And then not surprising anyone, they did absolutely nothing at all.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 24 points 4 months ago

Well. Robin Kelly filed the articles.

We’ll see what happens, but I suspect Mike doesn’t know about any of this, either.

[–] Microtonal_Banana@lemmy.zip 24 points 4 months ago

Impeachments have proven to be very effective at stopping this regime over the last decade. They definitely stopped Trump. He was impeached twice and it was career ending. /s

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 23 points 4 months ago

Oh no, not a threat?! I bet she's terrified!! Completely terrified of these terrifying feeble threats of performance politics.

[–] crystalmerchant@lemmy.world 22 points 4 months ago

Impeachment doesn't fucking work lol, the right sees it as a badge of honor tbh

[–] Chivera@lemmy.world 20 points 4 months ago

Norm hides in a military base because she's afraid of the public.

[–] Vorticity@lemmy.world 19 points 4 months ago

If she is impeached, they're going to do the same thing as with the court order against Lindsay Halligan. They're going to ignore the order until forced.

[–] OshagHennessey@lemmy.world 16 points 4 months ago

Oh, look out! She's been threatened! That'll show her!

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 14 points 4 months ago (1 children)

This cunt should be in prison.

[–] Today@lemmy.world 14 points 4 months ago (1 children)

This puppy killing cunt should be in prison.

The puppy killing Gestapo Barbie cunt should be in CECOT

[–] zr0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Oh no. Impeachment threat. Everything will get so much better when she will be replaced by another, wonderfully sane person. Provided that she will be impeached, which she most certainly will after murder No. 47263

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 9 points 4 months ago (1 children)

No. Every bit counts. Of course this one thing doesn't mean you can lean back and claim the problem is solved. There is many different ways of fighting back, and they all need to be employed.

[–] zr0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Still dreaming of a thing named “Justice”? Keep on dreaming. And please stay safe, because these days there are many feds shooting civilians for no reason.

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 10 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (1 children)

Of course I believe in justice.

I'll say it again: this is not the only way to fight back. But it's how politicians operate, and this one's now doing what is in their power. Something else might be in someone else's power to do.

IDK where that ICE murderer now is, but they could have detained him right there and prosecute him to the full extent of the law. Nothing Trump can do about it (short of starting a war against a state). But you'd probably say they're "still dreaming of a thing named justice".

Further, a professor sued his university who fired him over some Charlie Kirk comment on social media. He won, and the university that decided to obey MAGA is now $500k poorer. But you'd probably have told that person that they're "still dreaming of a thing named justice".

I understand the anger and frustration, but it doesn't have to lead to pessimistic fatalism.

[–] zr0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 4 months ago

I agree with you and I thank you a lot for showing me your perspective. Very much appreciated!

[–] demizerone@lemmy.world 13 points 4 months ago

I hope she wears that big stupid fucking hat to her arraignment.

[–] ProfThadBach@lemmy.world 11 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Yeah well they said the something with Bondi and we are still here. I want them all gone but the Democrats are toothless.

[–] FinalRemix@lemmy.world 11 points 4 months ago

Worse. Many of them are outright complicit, voting alongside the republicans.

[–] apftwb@lemmy.world 10 points 4 months ago
[–] JigglySackles@lemmy.world 9 points 4 months ago

Nothing will happen. She's part of the regime. They face no real consequence anymore.

[–] lemmylump@lemmy.world 9 points 4 months ago

Prison or death that what she should be facing.

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 8 points 4 months ago

Why did you vote for the funding bill that gave a trillion dollars to ICE then?

[–] myfunnyaccountname@lemmy.zip 7 points 4 months ago

Don’t worry everyone. Literally nothing will happen cause the politicians in DC don’t care.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 5 points 4 months ago

Get her propaganda off my TV screen

[–] e461h@sh.itjust.works 3 points 4 months ago

Politicians still on xitter are part of the problem.

[–] EndlessNightmare@reddthat.com 2 points 4 months ago

🎵 All across the country, they're calling for impeachment 🎵
