I'm pretty stuck on this one. https://cluesbysam.com/s/help/01c315cae125?state=bEzQ-AAAAAAA%3D The hint has me pointed towards C5, but only based on a hint about edges. There are 5 unknown people on the edges, not counting two in the left corner of which one is innocent and one is guilty. So I have no idea what its clues are trying to say matters here.

[–] surewhynotlem@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

That was fun. Three mistakes before I got it.

[–] Dupelet@piefed.social 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Wonder if there's enough interest in this to create a comm for it. Or maybe a more generic 'daily game' thing

Why bother catching the criminals on Jan 6th? They'll all get pardoned anyway.

[–] angband@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I just tried guessing and it let me pick bruce, but I don't see a clue for it.

[–] squaresinger@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I was stuck on the same one.

Take Peter's hint: It says that either Sofia or Wanda are criminals, so there's exactly 2 confirmed criminals, 2 confirmed innocents and Bruce on Column B.

Now take Gabe's hint: There cannot be 3 criminals on Column B, so Bruce needs to be innocent.

[–] angband@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

got it, thanks

[–] MaggiWuerze@feddit.org 10 points 2 days ago (3 children)

I played 3 rounds now and I get the feeling the clues aren't always enough to deduce the next assignment. Which is too bad, because the game itself is fun

[–] acosmichippo@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

you’re missing something. been playing for a few months, only one time ran into a bugged puzzle and Sam had it corrected within a couple hours of release.

[–] MaggiWuerze@feddit.org 2 points 1 day ago

Yeah, it seems I need to give myself more time to properly think through the clues

[–] ech@lemmy.ca 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Since I've gotten the hang of it, I've not encountered a puzzle where any choice was a guess. It certainly felt that way at times when I first started, though.

[–] ImminentOrbit@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I agree. Every time I'm sure that the game is wrong, when I look and rethink I understand my mistake. There is a subreddit for this game where they discuss it, but nothing here on Lemmy. I wonder if there is enough interest here to start one?

[–] Yorick@piefed.social 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

FYI The daily game community c/dailygames usually has someone post about this game every day

[–] ghostlychonk@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

So it's not just me. I've had times with this game that the clue is pretty blatant and it claims I don't have enough info.

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 0 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

There was no logic behind Bruce (judge in b1)!

I'm so glad I wasn't the only one!

[–] ech@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

SpoilersWith the given clues, it's known that there is a single criminal between Sofia and Wanda (b4 & b5). We also know the column can't have 3 criminals, and it already had one revealed. QED, Bruce has to be innocent.

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (4 children)

::: spoiler my experience.

I didn't get any of our that info. This is the screen shot I took right after selecting him using hints. And the two clues before the giveme, were Oscar and Uma who don't give that away either.

[–] squaresinger@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

I was stuck at the same one.

First take Peter's hint. It says that one of Sofia and Wanda is innocent, one is criminal. That means in Column B we know there are two innocents, two criminals and Bruce.

Now take Gabe's hint: there cannot be three criminals in Column B.

If Bruce were criminal, there would be three criminals in Column B, so Bruce cannot be criminal.

[–] ech@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

SpoilerD3 - Tom has 5 innocent neighbors.

4 are revealed, leaving one left between Sofia and Wanda, and the other must be a criminal.

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

I appreciate you responding and trying to hand hold me through this. So if I sound frustrated, it is not with you.

::: spoiler my experience.

I really don't see how that says Bruce is innocent. And when I got my first hint it highlighted two clues that were absolutely no help.

So how did you decide there were only 2 guilties in column b? Sorry I can't reference the my picture when responding.

Edit: My bad! I see my problem now! I tried to indicate 1&2 in column d and it said I didn't have enough evidence. That seems like a big problem in the intended logic.

[–] ech@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

So how did you decide there were only 2 guilties in column b?

So at the point just before your screenshot, the two clues that get highlighted for me are D3 and B2, which are the one's I mentioned.

  • D3 is the clue that tells us there is only one innocent left to reveal that neighbors C4, meaning there is one innocent and one criminal between B4 and B5, though we don't know which is which yet. And with B2 already being a criminal, B1 being criminal would give use three in the column.

  • B2 tells us column A is the only one with three criminals, so to fit all the clues, B1 has to be innocent.

I tried to indicate 1&2 in column d and it said I didn’t have enough evidence. That seems like a big problem in the intended logic.

For D1 and D2, we don't have enough information before B1 is revealed because the options of them both being criminals or both innocent each fit the clues up to that point, making the choice a guess. After B1's clue, the choice is clear.

And the clue from Tom about Zara and Igor sharing neighbors... What? There's two rows between them. They don't share a neighbor. Or is my definition of a "neighbor" wrong?

[–] Bademantel@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yes. I assume you mean Sofia? She has eight neighbors in total, two she shares with Igor. Both are innocent according to Tom.

There is also a tutorial which helped me a lot.

[–] MaggiWuerze@feddit.org 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Sorry, i meant Uma. She says Two innocents below Igor are neighbors of Zara

[–] zqps@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

"below" means the entire column below. Xavi and Tom fulfil these requirements.

[–] MaggiWuerze@feddit.org 1 points 1 day ago

Oh you're right. Just read the rules again

[–] Bademantel@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Tap for spoilerWith the information that Peter (D3) and Gabe (B2) provided, it's clear that Bruce has to be innocent.

[–] MaggiWuerze@feddit.org 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

What does either of those clues have to do with Bruce, or even Row 1?

[–] Bademantel@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Gabe: Column A is the only column with exactly 3 criminals.

Peter: There are 5 innocents neighboring Tom.

Given this combination we know that Bruce is innocent because either Sofia or Wanda have to be a criminal and because there cannot be exactly 3 criminals in column B: Bruce is innocent.

[–] MaggiWuerze@feddit.org 1 points 2 days ago

Ah okay... Da muss ich mir morgen wohl mehr Zeit geben um das zu lösen. Danke für die Erklärung

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I'm also curious how Gabe provides anything.

Also, it must've glitched or had an intention it wasn't letting on.

[–] Bademantel@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

I copied my answer. I don't know what you mean by glitch. The puzzle works with the given information.

[–] ImminentOrbit@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

I love this game! Since a streamer I like was playing it once, I've been hooked. If anyone is having trouble, scrolling down in the page had some explanations of some clues.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)
[–] ImminentOrbit@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Look at Oscar and Tom. How many innocents in row 5? What does that mean for Sofia's other neighbors?

[–] Dupelet@piefed.social 6 points 2 days ago (4 children)

Pretty disappointing that it doesn't allow you to access old puzzles.

[–] ImminentOrbit@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Sign up for his newsletter and he emails out the previous week's puzzles, as well as since bonus ones.

[–] Dupelet@piefed.social 1 points 2 days ago

Nice, thanks!

their business model I guess

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 0 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

Or that there's lack of logic in current ones.

[–] acosmichippo@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

there isn’t.

[–] UnityDevice@startrek.website 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I've played this game for over a month now, maybe two, and I haven't encountered a single instance of that happening. The next answer is always deducible by logic. I have gotten stuck plenty of times, and a few times I even thought the game was totally and definitely wrong, only for me to realise that I missed something.

If you continue playing, you should know that the games get harder as the week goes on. The weekend ones tend to sometimes take me 15-20 minutes to work out.

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I just found out my problem is it must've glitched, cause I had the clues for two guilties and it said I didn't have enough evidence, and the give me was Bruce, which it really shouldn't have been.

[–] Gibibit@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

The clues for Bruce are tough but its correct

[–] popcar2@piefed.ca 3 points 2 days ago

Pretty clever and surprisingly difficult, I was stuck on Bruce for the longest time.
