What would you do to get rich if you knew that you couldn't die but wanted to get rich fast?

Betting? Lottery? Risky jobs? What do you think would make the most money the fastest.

Most things done to yourself still have sideeffects that might kill you after those 4 years. Not to mention pain and disabilities you already get right from the start. I don’t see how any money in the world would be worth that.

And what does playing lottery or gambling have to do with not dying? Weird question.

Depends on the mechanism by which I can't die. Maybe an invisible force stops me from doing dangerous things. Maybe I have just really good luck for four years. Maybe I am literally immortal for four years, like shoot a gun point blank at my cheat and it bounces off the skin.

Potentially start a mega church / cult as the second coming of everyone's god(s). Readjust some beliefs to start from a baseline of every single human being having human rights. Rake in money from the rich fucks who think they can buy their way into some sort of heaven.

If not dying means being invincible, probably just bet on myself against rich people doing impossible things and then gambling that money.

Not being able to die or being invincible during those 4 years with no consequences after ?

[–] AlecSadler@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 2 months ago

Can I still be arrested? Do I have like...super strength?

[–] BCsven@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago

Is this related to Trumps term and his kleptocracy?

Selling my organs, or testing risky medical procedures.

[–] Nurse_Robot@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Probably betting on yourself in fights

[–] VeryVito@lemmy.ml 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Nobody said you can’t be beaten to a quivering, mass of mutilated organs and shattered bones. You just won’t have death to release you from the pain.

Bet you a million bucks I won't die tho

I thought the same, and then sped the loot on treating my PTSD.

[–] Flyberius@hexbear.net 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Bet someone a billion dollars I can hold my breath for 4 years. Idk...

[–] Dyskolos@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 months ago

Overkill. You could already start to impress me at the 4-hour-mark 😁

[–] 0xtero@beehaw.org 2 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Why would I want to get rich?

[–] Dyskolos@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

To have the freedom to do whatever you want, not to do what someone tells you to (job). "Rich" starts here, at least for me. Everything beyond that is added bonus.

[–] 0xtero@beehaw.org 2 points 2 months ago (2 children)

How about building a society where you have a freedom to do meaningful things without having to amass wealth?

[–] Dyskolos@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 months ago

Perfect. A silly naive dream, but perfect. Yes.

[–] howrar@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

To accomplish that, you would need power. In this capitalist society, power comes from money.

[–] 0xtero@beehaw.org 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Well have fun with the lottery!

[–] Dyskolos@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 months ago

No lottery-money that has ever been paid out would be enough for that. To really change the world you'd need at least unlimited funds like musk & co. And if you'd have those kind of funds, you probably long stopped caring or just changed your mind.

[–] pineapple@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

If your rich you have money to donate to people who need it most.

[–] 0xtero@beehaw.org 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

How about building a society where the poor don't have to rely on donations from the rich?

[–] pineapple@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I agree that idealy no one would have to donate to the poor, but we don't live in a society like that so if you have spair money you don't need or want you might as well donate.

And if you still don't want to donate to the poor then you can donate to other projects like funding renewable energy initiatives or open source software.

I agree that idealy no one would have to donate to the poor, but we don’t live in a society like that

I do live in a society which has social security programs based on a shared taxes instead of relying on donations from rich. Same with offering base human needs like free healthcare and free education.

Couldn't die = invincible and invulnerable from anything or "couldn't die" from a monkey's paw wish?

Because the latter might be "couldn't die because in a few minutes you get a serious accident where you stay in a coma for 4 years and then die"

[–] pineapple@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 months ago

Going on tv and doing rediculous stunts, Russian roulette cliff jumping into solid ground. Smashing bricks into your head. Idk whatever the host or viewers come up with.

Mr beast would probably hire me full time, I would save him money cause he would no longer have to CGI or fake his dangerous contraptions.
