I'm using Grok to raise my kids. They've learned tons of important lessons about who controls the media.

Enjoy your glue pizza for dinner kids!

he uses AI to homeschool. The same AI that is wrong 70% of the time and deludes facts more often than that? America, please for the love for your children, introduce MANDATORY schooling!!! So many dumb parents, often massively religious, who teach their children anything besides factbased science... I feel so sorry everytime I watch a video of a homeschooled kid who struggles to multiply 5 with 5.

I knew a 17 year old girl who was homeschooled and didn’t know what a “prime number” was. Surprise surprise, her mom was a bible-thumper (and the girl was a closeted atheist.)

If this is a trend, the supply of emotionally stunted young adults who immediately latch on to significantly older people for romantic purposes is secure for at least another few years. /s

Here's the full article

it also helps my kids prepare for the world they're entering

I homeschool all five of my kids

All of the kids have AI on their phones and tablets, and it acts as their tutor.

Because of course limiting contact with the outside world and basing almost their entire education on fucking ChatGPT won't hurt them at all in the long term.

[–] Allemaniac@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

in Germany this would be grounds enough to call the youth welfare department and remove him as a father. Holy fuck. I feel so sorry for all the homeschooled kids in the US. This is not okay, he is throwing away 5 lifes.

[–] Pieisawesome@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I was homeschooled. It’s a horrible practice for so many reasons. Luckily my parents enrolled me in college (dual enrollment) early and I was able to get a halfway decent education

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

There ARE some parents who actually do homeschooling right. But it does seem to be the exception rather than the rule.

[–] vala@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Thank you for saying this.

The US education system is cooked. It's not hard to do better.

Homeschooling gets a bad wrap because it is very poorly regulated and leads to some of the dumbest, least well adjusted adults you can possibly create.

But it can also lead to a much better, proper education if the parents are intelligent and truly care about the kids education.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago

Yes, I know at least one family that homeschools and does a good job. My sister-in-law does it as well, but it's the wrong way, unfortunately.

[–] drolex@sopuli.xyz 4 points 2 days ago

Sounds like absentee dad with extra steps.

[–] kingofras@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

Probably Clickbait stupid thing but I like how they got the detail of him having five kids right.

There’s no way a guy like that only has two kids. They all want to infest the world with their DNA.

[–] baggachipz@sh.itjust.works 55 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Of course he homeschools his kids.

[–] solomonschuler@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

I'm guessing this "homeschooling" will start well, and then go on a complete fucking tangent where they now believe AI is god, and make a god damn religion through it.

If someone's so passionate in AI, where he removes his kids from school to homeschool them, the end result is not going to be fucking pretty.

[–] Pieisawesome@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

An AI as god is probably better than other religions… at least the AI is real(ish)

[–] solomonschuler@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Yea no, it's not that bad. Jediism is also a pretty cool religion content-wise unless they somehow fucked up the story of star wars. Just like how the Jews, muslums, and catholics couldn't ever talk about their parent religion Assyrianism; oh what a fucking disgrace that would be.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jediism

it would be so much more interesting if these major religions did talk about there parent religion asyrianism and/or roman mythology. Its far more interesting than asking a rabbi "what shoe I should tie first" or "why do I have to cut my finger nails in a specific way as if I have dyslexia." 😂

Anyways I'm getting side tracked here, basic premise is, an AI religion -- which some may argue already exists (talking to you Sam altman) -- as long as there's truth to it, is far better than any other religion

[–] baggachipz@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago

Sam Altman’s religion is grifting money from investors.

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 14 points 3 days ago

Teach your kids to talk wrong

[–] ohwhatfollyisman@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago

the question--if ai indeed does what it says on the tin--is why.

why bother schooling your kids at all at home or otherwise if this chatgepetto guy can do everything for you?

let them just eat, sleep, and be merry.

[–] AceFuzzLord@lemmy.zip 5 points 2 days ago

Just based on the article headline alone, if it's anywhere near as bad as the headline, you know those kids are gonna get into the real world and already be leagues behind everyone else. They're gonna eventually "write" a letter to their dad about how much they hate him for what he did, but the dad isn't gonna know whether it's AI generated or written by their own kid. The kids are gonna be so incapable of doing everything themselves and so reliant on AI that they can't even think for themselves and use an AI whenever a simple question comes up. Even just basic "what's your name?" type stuff.

I hope I'm wrong and the parent is actually gonna intervene and help the kids learn that AI is a hallucinatory nightmare that is more wrong than right in many real world scenarios and applications. I hope the parent isn't just letting them learn literally everything from the AI and enforcing the belief that the AI is more competent and knowledgeable than a professional in a specific field of study.

They all look ai, especially the kid at the bottom whose hair is the only thing in the pic. If he has 5 kids that is probably supposed to be his daughter.

They all look weirdly posed too, but with the warhammer 4k tank in the back I think it might be real and they are all just weird looking.

[–] SandraBollocks@lemmy.world 35 points 3 days ago

analogous to saying "i'm a pro wrestler. i beat my wife and kids. to shield them from senseless violence would be a mistake" or "i work at wendys."

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 17 points 3 days ago

Jesus Christ in heaven. they just fucking get dumber and dumber don't they?

there is no god....I should go have a clorox martini.

[–] Cocopanda@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

People who home school their children. Are religious nut jobs.

[–] AceFuzzLord@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 days ago

Although I definitely agree that the vast majority of parents definitely shouldn't homeschool, I know of a single case where it went alright. Though they're definitely outliers in the equation.

[–] NessD@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Well, to play devil's advocate: Confronting children with AI early on prepares them for what's to come. If he teaches about the dangers, the advantages and disadvantages it's good to do so early on so the kids can understand what they are dealing with. They will be exposed to it anyway so it's good to talk and learn about it.

That being said: I don't think this is what he meant by that.

[–] Maalus@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago

He uses it to homeschool them

[–] ZDL@lazysoci.al 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You mean like raising your children in a Nazi environment prepares you by teaching you the dangers, advantages, and disadvantages of Nazism? (Protip: Children brought up by Nazis tend to become Nazis.)

Or maybe children brought up as Christians are prepared by seeing the dangers, advantages, and disadvantages of belief in the Sky Daddy? (Protip: People brought up in religious households tend to be of that religion.)

[–] NessD@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, teaching children about that AI exists, what it does and doesn't is the same as raising a child as a nazi. What are you on about? Of course teaching about the cruelties of the nazis is crucial to prevent it from happening again.

Or are you saying this guy is an ai? And raising their children as ai? Nazis believing their children should become a nazi doesn't mean the rest of society should not know and be thought about national socialism.

Fuck AI, but knowing about it is key to defeating it. Misinformation will not help destroy it.

[–] ZDL@lazysoci.al 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

He's not teaching them about the limits of AI. He's using AI to replace parenting. This is not someone who is critical about AI and teaching people how to contend with it. This is someone who's passing around the Kool-Aid.

[–] NessD@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

I didn't say otherwise.

[–] HootinNHollerin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

In my day dads would just drink at the bar and forget about us

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

Most of the people I work with are deeply invested in crypto, and are flat broke now most of them are looking for jobs in AI thinking it will make them extremely wealthy and also because it destroys the environment their words, not mine

[–] technocrit@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 3 days ago

The mistake was this dude not shielding his wiener.
