This is as beautiful than seeing my grandchild take her first steps! πππ
FuckMusk
This is a community designed to enjoy the extended downfall of Elon Musk.
Beautiful to see the old guy still crushing fascist symbols.
But what a disappointment it must be for him as a veteran of that war
He fought and went into near death and probably knew lots of people who died in that war fighting against nazism and fascism
Only to live long enough to see it all happen again with open arms, cheering crowds and billionaires lining up to pay for the whole circus.
You know, I needed that.
I know. We all did
So... I have no idea how to youtube, nor video edit...
But I added a soundtrack.
Hopefully I am not sued?
www.youtube.com/watch?v=71UuMMsydHA
... The video instantly reminded me of the BF42 intro... and the song lines up shockingly well with the events of the video, at least for its duration, and then I just did a fade out so you can hear the proper song at the end from the original creator.
He should have shot it afterwards!
I'm afraid that's not permitted in the UK...
So simple yet so satisfying
We liked our Shermans in WW2. Especially the Firefly variant with the 17 pounder gun!!
I could be wrong but I can't see anything to suggest they didn't buy that car to make this video
They could possibly have had it 'donated' by someone who... is actually antifascist enough that they don't want the car, nor any recompense, nor want to be known as the guy/gal that had an AfrikanerKar.
I had the same thought, but you would say that's the case if it was. Also 'AfrikanerKar' isn't great, I wouldn't use it
... You would not necessarily say that entire explanation if your whole point is to create a short, snappy, to the point video.
Also, I do not understand why AfrikanerKar 'isn't great'.
Elon Musk literally is an Afrikaner, both ethnically, and sociopolitically.
His father Errol self identifies as an Afrikaner. Errol's father (Elon's paternal grandfather) was also an Afrikaner.
Elon himself is, uh, you know, a white supremacist, born into a racially classed apartheid society, where he was the son of a very, very wealthy father... he had full time, live-in, indigenous black servants when he was growing up, his family's wealth was due in very large part to being able to exploit essentially slave labor from indigenous black Africans (of which there are so many distinct ethnic/cultural/linguistic groups I could not hope to adequately summarize). Elon currently advocates on behalf of Afrikaners in South Africa, who he believes are 'the victims of rasist policies'...
Spelling car with a 'k' also aludes to the Afrikaans language, which is what a lot of Afrikaners either speak, or they speak a variant of English (South African English) with a dialect/vernacular heavily influenced by the Dutch origins of Afrikaans.... 'k' is much, much more frequently used for the hard c, the voiceless velar plosive (literally 'k' in IPA), as in car or cat or cut... 'k' is often used instead of a hard 'c'... whereas in American English, 'c' is more variable as to whether the sound is hard, or soft, as in century, centimeter, nascent, depending on the word.
... Or are you just saying AfrikanerKar isn't as snappy or flashy, that you just don't think it rolls off the tongue as well as Swastikar/Swasticar?
(oh, also, if it matters, I am not downvoting you in our little one on one discussion here.)
Good golly goodness you got excited about this. So I don't see how 'we got this car to help the environment, now we're destroying it because to fight fascism' would take away from the video in any way.
Ellen moved out of Africa when he was 17 and he's 53 now, I would say he's more culturally American now than he is South African. Tesla is very much a proud American company. But mainly bringing race into it for no reason just feels racist, it feels like racism for the point of racism and that's never good, even if it's against white South Africans, you don't get to choose where you're born and not all people from one race are the same.
I'm not down voting your comments either
https://cybernews.com/news/tank-crushes-tesla/
The carβs battery was removed and the vehicle made safe before it was crushed, the group said. The Tesla had been donated by an owner who said they were βappalledβ by Muskβs public support for far-right movements in Europe.
Not everyone has the same conception of how to correctly edit or contextualize a video as you.
As you point out, I am rather excited by this video... because symbolism is to me far more powerful than the material, in this instance.
... As to the use of AfikanerKar... I think it is worth it to bring light to the very real and relevant past and history of Elon, which he has very, very often lied about in an attempt to obfuscate, as opposed to actually take head on, grapple with, and either embrace or reject.
He is a coward, always hiding behind lies and jokes and memes, 'ironically' fash-posting untill he became one fully, and now he of course blames all the mean people who are mean to him for no reason.
His race and ethnicity and class upbringing are very relevant because he was not only molded by them all as a child, as I pointed out, he still uses all that rascist, misogynistic rhetoric to guide his actions to this day.
It is also relevant because he literally was an illegal immigrant, and now supports and directly funds and enables punishing less fortunate immigrants to America than himself.
The man deserves to be marooned in the Heard islands, and I honestly really do not care if I somehow offend the sensibilities of actual Afrikaners who disagree with Elon's politics, I very much get the idea they would understand and appreciate the usage of the term.
Its not like Afrikaner is even a slur. It is literally what they call themselves.
I do not personally have a Karen style meltdown when a European describes an American tourist as a big dumb loud idiot who likely can't speak a lick of anything other than English... because I know this is a generally accurate insult, which I would freely level against many fellow Americans I have known.
Apparently
More pointing out your excitement about the discussion.
I don't think Elon is a good person and he obviously has a lot of flaws, I'm just pointing out that tying Elon and his views to a race isn't fair to that race, you're also tying an American company to South Africa.
The line 'I very much get the idea that they would understand and appreciate the usage of the term' isn't great, you're speaking on behalf of a race and saying that they're all happy being associated with a neo natzi.
You don't need to have a meltdown, I just can't imagine you enjoy being called a dumb American and you're coming from a place of privilege, you need to have a rule that works for all races, many races take great offence to racists views against them, white South Africans may also be quite privileged, my point is that you shouldn't do it to any race.
