There was a woman not too long ago who went into an MRI wearing a butt plug with a metal core.

[–] kamenlady@lemmy.world 36 points 5 months ago

Holy Fuck, it went from her ass, deep into her chest core. Pierced by a dull object, i can't even....

JFC, one article quotes, "like an anal rail gun". In other news, I'm starting a band.

that's fucked

Here's a video of someone taking a handful of coins into an MRI.

Nothing happens, because coins in the US are made of non-ferrous materials.

The magnet is always on, mind you.

Gonna drink a few pounds of small magnetic bearing balls to MRI suicide

I forgot to take my wallet out of my pants, and it was in the room. None of my cards worked in ATMs after that.

I have never had an MRI where you didn't completely change into a gown, in a separate room.

They were strict AF, CONSTANTLY asking about piercings, pacemaker, etc... even tattoos (are there metallic ink tattoos?).

How long ago was this?

[–] urheber@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 5 months ago

i saw some Dr house episode where some guy started screaming in the mri because of his tattoos, I guess some pwpoplw do stick and pokes with ink that's got metal, real tattoos won't have any though.

US coins won't work you small ball bearings

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 2 points 5 months ago

Thankfully we have other countries in the world

[–] yokonzo@lemmy.world 6 points 5 months ago (2 children)

Coins aren't magnetic though

[–] ch00f@lemmy.world 7 points 5 months ago (3 children)

Don't need to be. MRI will induce current in them which will make them magnetic.

Edit: for the pedants in the audience, I’m aware that they won’t be turned into permanent magnets. What I meant is that the electrons flowing through them will make them react to a magnetic field.
