If you're against this you're a Baldur's Gatekeeper.

(I don't know anything about Baldur's Gate.)

[–] Acute_Engles@hexbear.net 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Dungeons and dragons videogame

[–] NoisyOwl@hexbear.net 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Okay, I did know that about Baldur's Gate.

I also know it's horny, had a surprisingly high budget for an RPG, and gets medieval armor wrong.

[–] Acute_Engles@hexbear.net 7 points 1 year ago

It's very well made. Also the characters are certainly horny but my ace playthrough is going great and all the NPCs still like me

[–] FourteenEyes@hexbear.net 28 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Unless it's hardcore full-frontal from start to finish it won't accurately capture the spirit of the game. They've only got an hour per episode to pack with weird horniness.

Here's some more slop you mindless drones.

The reason I liked Baldurs Gate? The brand, obviously brainworms

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 11 points 1 year ago

I'd argue that the brand of D&D definitely got a lot of people to buy it that wouldn't have bought Divinity Original Sin 3.

Whatever, just another video game tv series most will forget.

[–] buckykat@hexbear.net 17 points 1 year ago (1 children)

wasn't there a d&d movie recently?

[–] Surreal@programming.dev 13 points 1 year ago

And it was amazing

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 15 points 1 year ago

Karlach's facial expression here is how I feel about this.

Somebody doesn't understand the allure of Baldurs Gate 🤔

Which ensures it'll be fast tracked and on the service by March.

Could we not though, not counting EA I'm like 60 hours in and haven't cleared act 2 - and already have plans for a second run. I don't have TIME for a BG show.

[–] FumpyAer@hexbear.net 4 points 1 year ago

Netflix has done a choose your own adventure before. Would be interesting to see a BG3 one.

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Run-time will be split 50/50 between a live-action bisexual harem anime and random comedy violence on goblins.

Surprisingly from me, pass

[–] Commiejones@hexbear.net 11 points 1 year ago

Put me down for $20 they do make it, $50 for it is hot trash, and $10 for they make a second season

Hey - if Larian gets some of that Netflix munny it’ll probably make another awesome game in 4-6 years. I’m down for that. And there’s still that very slim possibility it’s actually good. I’m going to choose to be cautiously optimistic.

[–] Dirt_Owl@hexbear.net 10 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (3 children)

I'll play devils pessimist and say that if Larian gets more money then the next game will probably be hot garbage because they'll have even more sponsors/investors to have to answer to.

[–] FumpyAer@hexbear.net 8 points 1 year ago (2 children)

How much money would Larian even get? WotC owns the IP and licensed it to Larian for BG3.

[–] Dirt_Owl@hexbear.net 7 points 1 year ago

Yeah, most likely most of it would just go into WotC pockets.

[–] JackbyDev@programming.dev 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I imagine Larian owns the specific BG3 characters though.

[–] FumpyAer@hexbear.net 1 points 1 year ago

Some of the characters are from DnD Forgotton Realms lore like Elminster, while some other characters are from previous BG games not originated by Larian like Minsc.

[–] Philosoraptor@hexbear.net 3 points 1 year ago

Agree. Part of why they've made such great stuff is that they're independent and self-publishing. There's nobody to rush them to market, and nobody outside the organization meddling in development. If Netflix (or some other company) gets its claws into them, I'd expect to see a huge drop in quality in favor of more focus-grouped bazinga bullshit.

[–] Moonguide@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

Otoh Larian isn't public, yet. As long as the company doesn't end up on soulless cunts in suits' hands, I'd bet on Larian to make a good game.

Top guy looks like a big nerd too, that's a good sign.

Netflix has a reasonable track record with these things, maybe I'll even watch it if they show hog.

Showrunner: Lauren Hissrich

Director: Rupert Sanders

Lead Writer: Chris Weitz

Producer: Roy Lee

Episode Director: Niki Caro

[–] sederx@programming.dev 4 points 1 year ago

Just don't.

[–] xXthrowawayXx@hexbear.net 1 points 1 year ago

Did you think three was where it would end?

There’ll be a sword coast ride at Disneyland before this is over!
