The elf should be using something with an insane amount of stopping power, like a 408 cheytac, or a 460 magnum.

maybe even one of those new 17 caliber bullets that they put inside of the shell from a .556
Magnum rounds are Dwarven make. You gotta be dense and stocky to put those downrange without falling on your ass. Elven spec-ops prefer Creedmoor.
Have you seen how fast and sleek 460 magnum is? 500 magnum was the "stupidly big" one, 460 was the one that they put a lot of science into
