I love how our foreign policy is never mentioned when talking about immigration. 7.7m Venezuelans have left Venezuela since the sanctions under the trump admin. Want to reduce the number of asylum seekers? Lift the sanctions

[–] heggs_bayer@hexbear.net 37 points 2 years ago (1 children)

frothingfashspeech-side-l-1It was socialism that ruined Venezuela, not sanctions!speech-side-l-2

"Then why not lift the sanctions?"

I usually don't get a good answer to this lol

America has created almost all of its own problems for the last 100 years. The current war in Ukraine is because the US dismantled the Soviet Union. Sadam Hussain took power with help from the US. The CIA funded and trained the Taliban who then used those resources to carry out 9/11. Marcos was a Reagan puppet in the Philippines. We funded paramilitary death squads and drug cartels all over South America. Jobs and manufacturing were all outsourced to China. Literal fucking nazis who were members of the SS were given passage to Chile where they murdered thousands of children. Vietnam was because we tried to install a dictator instead of allowing Ho Chi Minh take office. The same thing happened in Korea with Kim Il Sung.

The list goes on and on, one thing after another. We interfere in other countries doing adventurism, then have problems with those countries a decade or two after as they fall into deteriorating conditions.

Ruling class don't see any of that as a problems, those are all opportunities for them, which also explains why is US constantly creating such situations.

No idea, i don't watch it, but i wouldn't be suprised, since it's kinda obvious. As would Jesus said "you will know them by their fruits" and all those situations ended up with fruits being harvested by US ruling class, regardless how much problems it pose to US state and US working class.

America has created almost all ~~of its own~~ problems for the last 100 years.

Anytime I ask anything about American sanctions with respect to central and south American countries and their role in the increased asylum seekers I either get banned from a subreddit or I get the usual pointless insults instead of actual attempts at answers. America did that to themselves for all the "problems" that they are having.

[–] chickentendrils@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago

Because it's not a problem for the ruling class making the decisions. Those migrants dangerous to them are disappeared at the border, that's the point of the technological dragnet. Everyone else is only useful, either for labor or for dividing the racist parts of the working class.

"This twitter account kills fascism"

"I don't know how to break this to you, but mass deportation have majority support."

Twitter Libs are something else.

[–] Belly_Beanis@hexbear.net 35 points 2 years ago

Slavery, residential schools, and even the fucking Holocaust had the majority of support lol...really shows how they don't understand fascism or how to actually kill it.

[–] EllenKelly@hexbear.net 40 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Rachel's not a nazi because they're not a member of the national socialist german workers party, they literally don't exist! We did it! sparkling fascism for everyone who is cis-het&white-ablebodied&etcetc

[–] EllenKelly@hexbear.net 38 points 2 years ago (1 children)

when they wrote hit em where it hurts, saving democracy by beating republicans at their own game, they meant fascism, it seems so obvious

[–] culpritus@hexbear.net 33 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Blue MAGA to beat Red MAGA, the policies are the same but the branding is different

Think Different (but still fascist)

[–] tactical_trans_karen@hexbear.net 24 points 2 years ago

If we stop being so polarized, we can finally come together and have purple MAGA.

[–] FnordPrefect@hexbear.net 39 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The relevance of the "Will of the People" in amerikkka democracy when:

It benefits the proletariat: cheems

It's some hideous, evil racist shit: swole-doge

[–] Xavienth@lemmygrad.ml 32 points 2 years ago

Yeah don't abortion and universal healthcare have like 75% support? lmao

[–] TheLepidopterists@hexbear.net 38 points 2 years ago (3 children)

How many groups are the Dems explicitly throwing under the bus at this point?

[–] Frank@hexbear.net 28 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It's hard to really say because they list of victims gets more and more diffuse the further you go and you realize it never really stops. Like are we going to include the people of Tuvalu bc the Dems global warming policy is to drill a hole directly to hell and line it with box fans until you can cook an egg on the pavement in Saskatoon in december? Is it just to abstract at that point?

The existence of the Democratic Party is not compatible with human life.

[–] goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 6 points 2 years ago

Everyone but the rich

[–] Ram_The_Manparts@hexbear.net 28 points 2 years ago

Oh look, it's "the lesser evil".

[–] tactical_trans_karen@hexbear.net 22 points 2 years ago

If I self immolate, it will be because of what I just read.

[–] Barabas@hexbear.net 22 points 2 years ago (2 children)

So you either reign in number of asylum claimants coming in or the rest of the immigrant (legal and illegal) will pay the consequences.

How are you going to "reign in" the number of asylum claimants exactly? "Reigning in" is doing a lot of unspoken work here.

[–] AnarchoAnarchist@hexbear.net 19 points 2 years ago

I love the implicit assertion these people are migrating just for fun. Ignoring the fact climate change has already been screwing up growing seasons. Ignoring centuries of political meddling and repression. Ignoring the fact these asylum seekers are fleeing the conditions imposed on them by the US in the first place.

[–] Runcible@hexbear.net 8 points 2 years ago

Damn, I wish it worked
