i don't know about other melons, but salting watermelon is pretty normal.

why would you need to salt a melon? it's a melon

Because salt helps draw out the water in the fruit which makes it juicier and taste sweeter. Just a little bit does a lot for it.

Also sweet + salty is a great combo.

Morton Feldman salt or Morton Subotnick salt though?
