From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

Are you using linux-surface or have their patches been upstreamed to mainline now? I have a surface pro 6 I was running fedora on & haven't touched in a few years. Curious as to the current status

The OS variant i use uses the Linux-surfacekernel. I dont think they are upstream yet.

so .. which distro are you using? I've been using a Surface Pro 9 with Fedora 44 and the linux-surface kernel and supporting packages installed on top. I've been annoyed with sleep/wake overall (it often doesn't wake and I have to hold the power button and force a reboot).

I hear that sleep/wake has been an issue for a lot of surface devices. Mine is fine at wake/sleep but think its draining the battery while suspended.

yeah, honestly it makes no sense for this to be an issue. Like I can kinda get it if I'm doing things like unplugging the dock quick connect cable and attaching the type cover keyboard and then trying to wake and it freaks out and needs a reboot. But to be totally unresponsive until a hard power reset even without doing those things is just crazy.

Mine is ,like i said, fine. Def had a hiccup or two while playing with this.
