I got a job rejection email (sad) but they were very about it and even explained why they chose not to hire me. This is so rare nowadays I don't know what to do. Do I email back? Do I just sad react?

I would just say thanks for the consideration and thanks for the explanation, let me know if things change in the future and you'd like to reconsider (if the stuff they're mentioning isn't unchangeable or a you problem)

Reply thanking them for the opportunity and the helpful feedback, and that you hope they’ll have an opening that is a better fit in the future.

End of the day it's not like your response will make them change their mind but i would also feel compelled to recognize such out of place consideration
