ADHD parents, how do you teach your kids that we can sometimes be a bit overbearing for others? (lemmy.world)

ADHD kids and also adults I guess can sometimes be a bit much for normies especially when we get excited. I know I do. Sometimes I even hyper fixate on a person for a while. I learned this by alienating a lot of friends over the years. It hurts a ton to be rejected so often especially as a kid and teen.

I'd love to be able to help my children to learn this in a leas painful way. But at the same time I don't want to teach them that they are in some way "wrong". I don't want them to feel like being themselves is bad. At the same time I know it can be hard on others when my kids are so overbearing as I tended to be myself.

Any ideas, thoughts and opinions appreciated.

Thanks for posting this question. I really enjoyed reading alll the responses, and hear what different people's thoughts were. I'm not diagnosed, but the response here was really grounding for me.
