Bathing in cologne/perfume is the issue, body odor or not.
It's both, it's both.
It can be both, but I've definitely been punched in the face by pure cologne/perfume on multiple occasions. Probably even more often than I've ever smelled BO equally as bad, including my own on those lazy stay at home days.
