The White House has found a novel way to ensure Donald Trump’s nominees ascend to power.

Federal judges in the Western District of Washington swore in former King County Superior Court Judge Roger Rogoff as U.S. attorney Wednesday morning. Within 54 minutes, Trump fired him.

The district’s 17 federal judges have been trying to find a replacement for Seattle’s First Assistant U.S. Attorney Neil Floyd, after Trump failed to formally nominate him. Floyd was appointed in October, though his name was never officially advanced to the Senate for consideration.

Federal law grants a district’s judges the power to appoint a U.S. attorney if the president and the acting attorney general fail to do so within 120 days, subsequently stonewalling the procedural Senate hearings.

I get that the mainstream media might be suppressing the news about these things, but surely there are plenty of independent media reporting on them. So far, I haven't heard about people being arrested everyday for protesting in America like I am hearing about in the UK, which I also hear mostly from independent media. It might just be the algorithm not showing me, so can you give me some sources to read?

[–] velma@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

And I hardly ever hear about protests in the UK from western Washington state. Shocking, right?

[–] stephen01king@piefed.zip -2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I ask for sources, not for people to repeat things me and the other guys already discussed. What is the point of this comment, again?

This is so weird, here in America where I get local news affiliates, Facebook posts, videos, there are thousands, maybe tens of thousands of active protests around the country.

Delaney hall has managed to break through the national news embargo multiple times. But part of this fascist takeover is to do their best to reduce the impact of these protests.

You are repeating back our propoganda to us, which is hilarious. Americans are doing nothing? Americans are being harmed every day by ice, dhs, the military and national guard, and local and state police every single day and yet they still protest.

Trust me, it's pretty fucking lit out here, but it's also a big place, and these things can seem very far away depending on who and where you are. Like a fucking British person, you tool.

Here's a fun exercise on how to spot propoganda. A fence is going to be put up around Lafayette park near the Whitehouse. You'll see it listed as a popular staging area for protests with no current pictures, maybe a picture of a few people waking around a tumbleweed, why do they need a fence then? Like take 5 minutes and pull your head out of your ass.

I said I don't receive any news of any protests through my algorithm. Just provide a few sources for your claims and you can prove me wrong just fine without trying to insult people or looking down on them.

I keep seeing people say there are constant protests but no one has actually given me a source until now. You could pull your head out of your ass and make a more productive comment than ones that attempt to antagonize people that doesn't want you guys to fall to a fascist government but are just a bit ignorant about your efforts.

And no, I'm not a British person nor live anywhere near the UK, yet I hear the about protests in Britain in their independent media, but not the ones in America from the independent American media I watch. It either means the algorithm is hiding it from me or your independent media doesn't do a good job at spreading the news.

You just seem particularly useless. It's an embargo, national journalism in the US is largely corporate controlled, i just gave you two specific events you can search, but if i have to spoon feed you a local news story because you don't understand how locality works, ok.

https://cbs2iowa.com/news/local/woman-shown-in-viral-crpd-arrest-video-i-feel-like-i-was-targeted

Here's a little taste of how media about American protests looks during an embargo.

https://www.9news.com/article/news/crime/woman-injured-in-shooting-near-ice-detention-facility-in-aurora/73-694b9b34-c14c-46e2-b846-76150384be7b Protests are not unusual

I know America is great at making it's own populace believe this stupid propoganda, but protests are happening everywhere, and even getting violent.

Watch what happens if there isn't a vote. They burnt police departments down during BLM.

It's just such a naive and silly way to think.

[–] stephen01king@piefed.zip 0 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Finally, some sources I can check. That's all you need to do to prove me wrong, given that it does show what you claimed.

Edit: Unfortunately, the first link only shows a few people outside an ICE facility where one of them is being attacked. These guys are doing good, but where are the rest of the community? This just seems to confirm my fears, that the efforts from the ones fighting are not being echoed by their community.

Do you guys really have no independent media that are reporting on the stuff you're saying is happening like the protests in the second link? Are these stuffs even being reported here on the Fediverse? If so, where can I find them?

[–] AWistfulNihilist@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

See, you are particularly useless, I just explained how an embargo works and showed you why the news looks like it does. I had explained how the vast majority of US news is corporate captured, I even spelled out multiple examples of propoganda, you are a tool.

[–] stephen01king@piefed.zip 0 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Majority doesn't equal all, so why aren't you showing the ones not corporate captured? Your overuse of calling me useless is really proving to be simple projection at this point.

[–] AWistfulNihilist@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Not only do i think you are tool of propoganda, now i think you are controlled opposition.

[–] stephen01king@piefed.zip -2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Sure man, it's me, a non-American concerned about where America is headed, who is the controlled opposition, and not the one trying to make enemies of people who aren't on the side of your actual enemy. You don't sound like a person actually serious about fighting the enemy now. Sounds like your main objective is to sow discord amongst the people who are against trump.

[–] AWistfulNihilist@lemmy.world -1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah, me telling you about the media embargo on protests which is specifically designed to make Americans doubt the effectiveness and number of protests is sowing discord.

Not the tool that has weaponized incompetence in the face of that propoganda. Sounds right to me tool 😀. Must be my TDS?

[–] stephen01king@piefed.zip 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Asking you for sources that aren't part of that embargo given that not all American media is corporate owned is sowing discord now? I think what you're doing by claiming there are protests everywhere but not having any source to produce is trying to make Americans think the situation is not as bad as it might be so that they get complacent and not fight back. You literally sound like you're part of a psyop. The fact that you can't stop insulting me just makes me think you're very desparate to distract people from finding out.

[–] AWistfulNihilist@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I just think you're kinda dumb. The American situation is terrible, which is why Americans are protesting, which is having an effect at every level it happens, which is why discussing it in American media is embargoed. It'll keep escalating regardless until it's impossible to ignore, but at that point people will be burning things down. That'll be around election time when voting is predictably compromised by the fascist regime.

We're just arguing past eachother because you are a tool.

[–] stephen01king@piefed.zip 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You people have plenty of independent media that aren't corporate owned and part of the embargo. What is it that is so hard for you to understand that if none of the protests you mentioned is enough to gain the attention of your independent media, that means the movement is hopelessly small and require some ass kicking to get into gear instead of the coddling you're trying to do now? I think YOU'RE very dumb because you don't seem to realise that when it's too late, there is no turning back until some actual bloody revolution is performed, and that requires even more sacrifice than what you're unwilling to do even now.

[–] AWistfulNihilist@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Lmao the old i know you are but what am I. We're down to middle school debate because I'm arguin with a literal and figurative tool.

[–] stephen01king@piefed.zip 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Not really, because I haven't relied on insulting you constantly to make my point, yet.

[–] AWistfulNihilist@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

"...yet." he said ominously as he puts on his joker makeup.
