Overview:

Electric Vehicles are a key part of our tomorrow and how we get there. If we can get all the fossil fuel vehicles off our roads, out of our seas and out of our skies, we'll have a much better environment. This community is where we discuss the various different vehicles and news stories regarding electric transportation.

I live there too - or in a space just like it. It's heavily rural so between the temperatures and the distance we will be the combustion engines last stand.

Yes it is going to be difficult with rural places. I feel like (PHEV) plug in hybrids with electric only modes have been skipped over.. There is certain area that would benefit from them. I could do 80% of my driving on electric and gas only when needed. There is a couple models I'm looking at for my next car, if only I can find one used for a good price. 😂

Well problem with PHEV is it's simply awesome on paper but pretty much sucks in reality. It's too much of a compromise with virtually all PHEVs I've seen so far.

You get underwhelming EV with low power and range and mediocre ICE part that has to work harder because all the extra weight (applies to EV part too).

Another downside is the technical part of it is much more complex with more things to break and once one part (EV/ICE) fails you can't just use the other.

You also get all the ICE "fun" parts like oil change and compulsory exhaustion CO2 checks (where I live).

And it's usually more expensive on top of all things.
