Today I posted a picture of a stamp with an animal in it and they said the picture contained nudity and made me take it down, but I reported a photo of a guy with a fully visible swastika tattoo and they said that's fine.

I'd like to start a Lemmy community with photos of stuff that they refuse to remove called FacebookSaysItsFine.

I find it hard because of my Livejournal friends, it's the way we're still in touch.

By posting stamps with animals in it?

Lol it was a gift from a Livejournal friend regarding an inside joke.

Exchange your email with your fb friends and toss your fb account in the trash.

I made a Facebook account a few months ago, not to post on it, but to access Facebook Marketplace because it's sometimes cheaper than Craigslist

I would pay NOT to have a FB account

which I suppose I do

Livejournal is still there. I have a permanent account from back when they allowed you to purchase an account for like $100 USD. I mailed them a check and everything.

All my photos and everything are still up. I see other people blogging there too. I still get email notifications from there too.

Just go back to using Livejournal. It's a fine platform honestly.

Hell I went back to using just tumblr and nothing else really aside from Lemmy as a message board.

I gave it up because it's basically a Russian government propaganda machine now. Did you listen to the Reply All episode about it? I too mailed a check for a permanent account but it stopped feeling safe in about 2015 so I shut down, nobody posts or reads there anyway that I know anymore. I miss it terribly. It was the absolute golden age of social media and I am closer to those friends than I am to anyone else.

Yeah I stopped using it around 2010 and that was not long after it became mostly Russian. I can't read Russian so I had no idea what any of those accounts were posting about and I didn't bother trying to translate the because it was like 2011 and translation online wasn't that good back then.

I've never listened to Reply All. I assume its a podcast.

Anyway, I'm in the US and I don't stick my head into Russian politics because I don't think its my place to do so. It doesn't concern me and I feel like its none of my business and I feel like the US really shouldn't go sticking their nose in other countries business but of course our government is full of fucking nosey idiots. Always has been and seems to me our history is full of us sticking our nose where it doesn't belong. I'm not a fan.

So if you have some kind of moral grudge against whatever those people are posting - I can't agree or disagree. It's good you stand up for what you believe however.

It's still just a platform though and there is nothing wrong with you and your friends going there, starting your own community so you can all keep and touch and talk to each other. No one says you have to interact with the Russians there.

It is a podcast and what they found out about Russian Livejournal is INSANE.

You know, I think I remember hearing something about that in passing. Might be a cool deep dive for later.
