Don't you get it? They're serious this time! They're really gonna do it this time!
Maybe he's just venting. He tried to be pragmatic AGAIN, stumping for dems to prevent Trump getting back in office, and it backfired spectacularly. It's his final "fuck you, told you so".
Might be the case since he's almost certainly at the start of his final Senatorial stint.
