Bettors on Kalshi and Polymarket are waging nearly $1 billion on the Super Bowl. But according to Kalshi’s CEO, what they’re doing isn’t actually sports betting - it’s "trading." What’s behind the marketing ploy? Dodging taxes and regulation, of course.

On Friday, three University of Minnesota students were arrested by campus police for chaining themselves to the entrance to Morrill Hall. The students are demanding university president Rebecca Cunningham — whose office sits in the building — expel ICE from university grounds and declare UMN a sanctuary campus. So far, Cunningham has not made any statement against ICE or taken action to protect students. In 2024, 11 students were arrested in the same building for demanding the university’s divestment from Israel.

The Super Bowl is tomorrow, and chances are you’ll be tuning in (viewership reached a historic 127 million last year). Chances are you’ve also already been bombarded with prediction market ads prompting you to bet on every aspect of the big game. But how much do you really know about Kalshi or Polymarket? 70% of people that participated in prediction markets lost money, and less than 0.04% of traders hold the vast majority of profits. That's because despite what companies like Kalshi and Polymarket will tell you, insider trading is a big problem for prediction markets. You might not be trading against the house, but you might be trading against someone who knows the right answer, from the inside, with little restrictions. Know the truth.

Peter Mandelson was useful to Keir Starmer because Labour are willing to do "almost anything" for a positive economic message. That includes a £240m Ministry of Defence contract doled out to Palantir, a US company that sells surveillance and warfare tech to Israel. But what's the connection between Mandelson, Starmer, Palantir and Jeffrey Epstein? On Novara Live, @nojusticemtg and Dalia Gebrial go into the detail.
