Hello! I have been running TTRPG games for hexbear folks for a few years now and we are moving into our next system, Mothership. I have previously run (Cyberpunk Red, Shadowrun 5e, Lancer, The Burning Wheel, Pathfinder 2e, Shadowdark, Ars Magica, Masks, Delta Green, Mothership 1shots) for folks from here.

I have previous experience with D&D 5e, Blades in the Dark, Monster of the Week, ICONS, and Vampire the Masquerade 5e. I tend to run according to the rules more than homebrew, am more merciful than antagonistic, rely on prep more than improv, faction over disparate NPCs, lower amounts of explicit violence/gore, complex encounters, slow burn terror over horror.

The campaign themes are expected to touch on Body Horror, Capitalistic Horror, and Monster Horror.

We play weekly for about 3 hours starting at around 20:00 CET/14:00 EST on Thursday.

There are two to three returning players and I'm looking for another player or two. We usually run if there are 3 players.

We use Discord for voice & session scheduling and Roll20 for the virtual table top, it is a dedicated hexbear ttrpg discord server and I'm happy to help folks with roll20.

Mothership is a retro-future lightweight system that leans heavily on survival horror. The image moodboard in the post is one I made to reflect the campaign which I expect to run for about 10-15 sessions but am always happy to extend if the players want to.

The media touchstones I had in mind are: Altered Carbon, The Expanse, Alien, Matrix Reloaded. The players are the crew of a recently decommissioned cargo vessel docking at an outlaw space station on the edge of known space. The station known as Prospero's Dream is home to a handful of factions and has strict Oxygen rationing. The crew will need to find a way to scrape together credits to repair/upgrade their ship so they can get back to Inner Space or save the space station.

I will provide all the rules needed and we will have a session 0.5 where we go over some of the safety tools I like to use (X-Card & Lines and Veils), make the crew and whatever remaining time we will jump into the game on the ship as it approaches Prospero's Dream.

There is a hard line with Romance/Sexual content, and Young Children. There are veils for Extreme Violence, Torture, Adolescent Children and Player vs Player.

Feel free to respond here or DM me, I will be reposting this at the start of April when we are getting ready to start.

Thanks for reading!

Sooo... I just found out this bundle ends in less than 3 days (Edit: they extended it).

https://www.humblebundle.com/books/shadowrun-fourth-edition-complete-collection-catalyst-game-labs-books

I'll get straight to the point.. I still can't wrap my head around which edition is what. I do have this very comprehensive doc bookmarked, but I still don't know what's "best for me"...

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1zDo6pfk1BPgKs8Ak16zPqB2gqPYM7gKu-NvAwmlXhbc/edit?usp=sharing

Problem with this doc is, it's too comprehensive. XD

Anyway, I have played SR before, but I don't even know which version. And I do have a ton of 5E stuff from some previuos bundle (which I haven't read). It seems 4E editing was better, and that alone might be worth even if at the lowest tier.

Thoughts? Yay? Nay?

Surely most of you have already heard about this, but in case some of you haven't:

There's a crodfunding campaign (will launch on March 31st) to create a 5E compatible (as in, D&D 5E rules) version of Traveller:

https://www.backerkit.com/c/projects/world-s-largest-rpgs/traveller-5e/

Personally I think one of the greatest strengths of Traveller is the system. And even though I'd love to have some coins or dice, it's unlikely I'll take part.

Still, I wish the campaign is successfull and it brings more people into the genre.

Mongoose has a free christmas gift:

Orbital Reds is a free Traveller... Paranoia.... Travenoia mission, including everything you need to explore the utopia of Alpha Complex... using the Traveller rules set!

https://www.mongoosepublishing.com/products/orbital-reds

Orbital Reds is an adventure for Traveller set in the funniest dystopia around, Alpha Complex from the game Paranoia. It uses the same rules from the Traveller Core Rulebook but players take roles as Paranoia’s Troubleshooters trying to protect their utopia from an old weapons platform in orbit. It would be best if the team knew what space and orbit mean, but ignorance is not just bliss here. It is a survival trait.

Feeling lucky? Step into this casino equally frequented by high rollers and people who are just looking to have a good time. The drinks pour all night as dealers shuffle their cards and hand out dozens of chips. There is one rule to keep in mind when visiting this casino— the house always wins.

This building features a variety of tables where patrons try their luck, two VIP rooms for high-stakes games, a bar and kitchen, security rooms, and much more. Stairs lead to an underground vault, where cash and other valuables are stored.

Foundry VTT modules with lighting and walls are available to Gamemaster patrons!

Hey all! I've been working for the past year-and-a-half-ish on a TTRPG game in my spare time. I've finally decided to put it out there in the wild. The main reason for creating this is to flex creative and design muscles more than anything.

For a short synopsis, the game is inspired by 16-bit era video games and tries to pull off similar aesthetic choices. It's also inspired by things like warhammer 40k, D&D, space-themed movies and TV shows.

The Pendragon Nebula is a hot-spot for weird, psionic activity. The Mad King Artur attempts to clamp down on all the inhabitants of the solar system and enforce his will upon all his subjects, but his hold has been slipping in recent decades. Baronies, Cities, and even whole planets are in rebellion.

Play as a psionic wielding psi-knight, space adventurer, or ship's engineer, among other options!

It features heavy use of psionic powers, as well as a reasonably rich character progression system.

The entire system uses only D6's, which was a design constraint i wanted to put on myself.

It's completely free in a "pay what you want" fashion, and i would love to hear any thoughts and feedback, as well as your experience playing it!

I think I haven't shared this on the Fediverse yet.

The Cepheus Engine SRD has this nifty table on page 104 (chapter 5: off-world travel) where travel times are specified, at several G's of acceleration, for some common distances.

At some time I wanted to know how much time would it take to get to the Kuiper belt... but the table in CE's SRD stopped short of 7 Au.

So I made this page:

https://rpg20.com/index.php/misc/interplanetary

I also added a column where I specified the distance in light-seconds. light-minutes, light-hours, or light-days (because I find it useful to know when a radio transmission would ideally reach it's destination).

Hope someone else finds it useful.

Just found out about this ~~upcoming~~ Kickstarter.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lightfishgames/cyberdark-rpg/description

It's a cyberpunk game based on Shadowdark. And while haven't even played Shadowdark, I'm always grateful when publishers provide a free Quickstart. I think it's a great way to see for yourself if you'll like the game.

You can find a link to the quickstart from the KS page above, or from directly at:

"This dimly-lit tavern known for its strong drinks, hot tunes, and occasional outbreaks of shocking violence. Most star pilots visiting Tatooine spend their downtime in the cantina, making it an ideal spot to hire a starship's crew." - Star Wars Databank

Welcome to the Mos Eisley Cantina! This is my interpretation of the famous location from Star Wars. This tavern features a large central bar surrounded by alcoves where patrons can gather and drink. It has a main entrance and an emergency entrance in the back.

Has anyone seen or played Voidrunner Codex? I didn't even see it when it launched, I just found it yesterday when I stumbled on the Alpha Star magazine crowdfunding.

Another SciFi (postapoc) delivery by 2mtt:

Our new map is a huge section of metro – tracks, platform, and shops – all destroyed by some apocalyptic collapse. Fellow fans of Fallout or Metro 2033, this is your dream map!

I received this in some newsletter, and I didn't know what it was. Took me a while. Need more coffee, I guess. Or maybe I was drifting without comms whenever the previous event happened, and I just couldn't know.

But apparently, Mothership Month has returned:

https://www.backerkit.com/c/collections/mothership-month-2025

Basically, it's a bunch of crowdfunding campaigns, all centered on Mothership. Some discounts apply to early backers.

And it seems like some rewards are unlocked depending on the number of campaigns that become funded.

For my Mongoose 2E campaign, I made my own custom GM screen, with only the stuff I found myself needing on a regular basis. It's 3 landscape pages, designed to be put in a customizable GM screen.

You can download a PDF copy, and the original Affinity files I created it with, here: https://polyhedralnonsense.com/2025/10/09/a-custom-gm-screen-for-traveller/

Hey there I did a similar event last year for delta green one-shots on the week leading up to Halloween and had a great time.

This year I would like to do some cassette futurism / sci-fi horror. Aliens, Dead Space, etc. are good cultural touchstones.

I use roll 20 as a virtual table top, and discord for voice. I have been running tabletop roleplaying games online for hexbear users for a couple years now with a lot of success.

I use the X-Card and Lines & Veils safety tools.

I will provide all needed information and materials to play the game. I like to have a group of 3-4 players. I'm looking to have a fifteen minute rules introduction, and then about a 3 hour play session with fifteen minutes of aftertalk.

Please DM me or comment if you are interested. I'm flexible on times but prefer to play CET evenings / EST afternoons.

I will repost this in October, Thank you for reading!!!

I guess this is great news if you use Roll20's VTT:

https://con.roll20.net/#hs_cos_wrapper_widget_1755613004582

The adventures are:

  • Alien RPG: Chariot of the Gods
  • Tales of the RED: Hope Reborn - The Angel's Share Addon

Oh, there's also a D&D Eberron module there.

Another Sci-Fi contribution at 2-minute-tabletop; this time a fanmade handout by "Toaster":

https://2minutetabletop.com/sci-fi-handout-sheets-toaster/

I think it's more suitable for use in a VTT than printed out, but hey... what do I know? I don't even have a working color printer. ;)
