Brief history of YAML:

"Oh no! All of these configuration file formats are complicated. I want to make things simpler!"

(Years go by)

"...I have made things more complicated, haven't I?"

YAML is generally good if it's used for what it was originally designed for (relatively short data files, e.g. configuration data). Problem is, people use it for so much more. (My personal favourite pain example: i18n stuff in Ruby on Rails. YAML language files work for small apps, but when the app grows, so does the pain.)

The cyberpunk mouse from the dystopian sucky cyber future where the megacorporations have abandoned the research into ergonomics in search of greater profits...

...what do you mean it's a product on market today?

The Walt Disney Company is not ready for the amount of Steamboat Love ❤️🛳️❤️🛳️❤️ that the Rule34 folks will throw at them. Hot Steampipe Action is on the menu, folks.

I'm from Finland. This is how it usually goes in the winter:

During the 2 hours of daylight we get at this latitude:

  • Ooooooh this is pretty
  • Bet I can get some nice photographs
  • ...or I would, if the sky wasn't overcast goddamn it

Other times:

  • Rummaging through the closet for wool socks and more clothing
  • Put on the headphones, hit the metal music collection on my Nokia, and face the Darkness with a grim stare
  • Would hit the beer, but not in this economy

In Finnish language we already have the kinda rare expression "rapakon takana" ("behind the mud puddle") about stuff that's happening in America.

Well of course it has a picture of his parents fighting (???) in it. Dude's a severely messed up right-winger.

Reminds me of that time when some Christian website had put an RSS news feed on their home page, but of course the owner had insisted on putting a word filter on it.

So the website had a headline about "Tyson Homosexual" winning gold.

People immediately started wondering what kind of headlines the website would have on the anniversary of the historic flight of Enola Homosexual and the Hiroshima bombing.

Road to Vostok is a game under development that used Unity engine. Things have been eventful around Unity recently, haven't they?

I had a momentary panic because it's the end of the month and I'm low on money... but then I remembered I deleted my Twitter account and life has just been absolutely peachy since then.

Turtle Release!!! (www.youtube.com)

This is from early 2021, when a lot of sea turtles were cold-stunned by unseasonally cool waters. Rescuers let them warm up a bit and gave them a rare treat of experiencing incredible speed outside of water.

Brave as a whole? Brendan Eich is the next Elon Musk. Not in wealth, mind you, but dude's got the antics, is all I'm saying. (Not a good look. Look just what's going on with Reddit.) Also, a dipshit of EPIC proportions.

Brave Browser? Hell no. The whole marketing point is "oh, it's a web browser, but with ad blocker". ...installing uBlock Origin is a 2 minute job on Firefox and even on Edge. Have literally walked elderly people through the process. (It got even weirder when they talked about replacing ads with approved ones. I don't know if they still do that.)

I do draw the line on the whole BAT nonsense. "Oh, you can use cryptocurrencies to support your fave content creators? Even if they didn't opt in to the program in the first place, and you still make it seem like the donations go to them? And then say 'oh yeah the donations will eventually go to them IF they sign up for the program' oh FUCK YOU you're just deceiving fans aren't you."

Dramatic reading of an old Reddit story. A very shelly story. 🐢

A lot of people are boasting here like "well I just deleted my 15+ year account with quintillion karma."

I'm not going to delete my account yet (but probably won't be posting anything on Reddit either). Instead, I came up with a Strange Hobby.

Because password managers are so ubiquitous and easy to use and everyone should use one, I somehow found a complete list of all Reddit throwaway accounts I had over the years. (You know, from back when you could create accounts in seconds and Reddit didn't make you sign a blood pact or whatever.)

So I've been deleting those accounts. There was a pile of them.

And I like to every time I delete an account, a little siren goes off in Reddit HQ and Spez is like "Aaaaagggh! Not another one!"
