We might be talking about different eras, but they were run out of dedicated racks in datacentres for an extremely long time before the cloud. There are entire industries that would no longer be financially viable if they were stuck with their little comms closets.

Auditable access control and security, private connectivity to vendors and partners, advanced fire prevention, a formalised process for access for vendor support, delivery docks for full rack unit appliances, separate circuits for power, space for cable runs, 24/7 concierge.

Rolling your own datacentre is ludicrously expensive when you can just rent half a rack of space, this would kill small businesses and major corps would just take the hit and pass it on to consumers.

It's ridiculous, every time they abuse the cvss system like this people become less likely to actually address vulnerabilities.

I don't think anyone will ever exploit this in the wild

I argue with my breadmaker. It beeps ten times when it's finished making pizza dough. Fucking ten! Dumb clanker has no right to talk to me that way

If only Teams would do the same thing at my workplace

Direct messages with "Hi @firstname.lastname" really grind my gears

No hello is considered passive aggressive lol

Do not run your own email server - highly recommend using your own domain though. Use a provider that lets you BYO your domain. Just make sure you get your MX records correct with your DNS provider, most email providers have documentation for this.

Is "InfoBay" actually any better? Zero imagination

It must be really confusing for you, having all your friends and peers disagree with you on a political level. Do you think everyone hates you, or just your opinions? Does it make you sad?

Whole bloody thread is incomprehensible

My favourite part is the "we're all in a bit of a shock about the articles written" in a PR piece that actively worsens their public perception hahaha

A+, great job, company in crisis mode pisses it's pants on reddit

If they actually don't have a way to assess AI usage in software, in the walled garden that is corporate software dev, then they're just incompetent lol
