Hi,

Does anyone know of any service that independently hosts podcasts exclusive to Spotify, Audible etc.?

Thanks.

Shush, that's the secret European country only rich people know about...

Original post here.

I've found a fix for the key 'sticking' issue I posted about a couple of weeks ago.

It turns out that on the problematic switches, the 'south' plastic wall (highlighted in picture) had caved inwards. This was either due to poor QC or, more likely, damage I caused when trying to foolishly force the switches into my PCB.

I believe that when I was inserting the switches into the PCB the pressure applied to the East and West sides of the switch exacerbated the flex and caused the South side of the switch's stem to 'catch' on the problematic wall.

That would explain why the switches didn't malfunction until they were in the PCB and why a problematic switch would be more noticeable on the left half of my keyboard than the right half (I believe that the PCB grid holes are slightly smaller on the left half).

I've taken a few of the troublesome switches, taken a plastic spudger, and applied pressure to 'reverse' the bend and it's solved the issue every time!

Mate, I came on here to post Haskell as a semi-ironic 'joke' and it's included in the top comment. You've made my day.

Maybe this doesn't need to be said but this is a different question to which video game genres do you enjoy. For example, I enjoy playing Dota 2. Every few months or so, I'll play it for a couple of weeks and put it back down. I'll never play more than two or three matches and I feel 'present' for the duration.

Paradox grand strategy games (especially EUIV), however, I can start playing at 7am and in a blink of an eye it can be 11pm and I won't have eaten or used the toilet or anything. I can do this for multiple days in a row. Furthermore, I don't often feel like I'm 'enjoying' it. I'm just consumed by it.

I'm intrigued to hear whether or not anyone recognises this difference in themselves. If you have any insight as to why you're consumed by some games and not others, I'd be very interested.

Hello,

My apologies if I use the wrong terminology, I'm pretty new to this. This week I installed Gazzew U4T switches into the Sofle V2 keyboard I put together. I used Cherry MX Blues in it before and had no issues.

Some of my switches, as I press them, feel as if they get 'caught' on the tactile bump. There's a great deal of resistance at the level of travel the bump begins. I either have to apply more pressure or change the angle of the pressure my fingers exerts to 'uncatch' it and depress it.

The odd thing is that it doesn't appear to be an issue with the individual switches but rather the position they sit i.e. I can replace a switch working as expected with a 'catching' switch and the previously working switch now catches and vice versa.

It appears the respective gaps on the PCB are too tight and it 'chokes' the switch.

Has anyone encountered this? Does anyone know of a solution? Would lubing my switches solve the problem?

Hi all,

Oftentimes, video files I download only include six-channel audio (i.e. 5.1). Using Tdarr, I transcode the video files and create a stereo audio channel from the surround channel.

At present, qBittorrent seems to seed these re-encoded files without complaint but if I force a recheck, it'll overwrite my newly-encoded files with the original. I'm concerned that my seeding these altered files is 'harming' the pool somehow but I am not sure?

An easy solution to this would be to keep two copies of each re-encoded file on my hard drive, so I watch the version with the stereo audio and seed the original. However, I do not have a lot of storage and would ideally minimize the copies I have of each file.

So, to sum-up, I suppose my question is: am I harming the torrent pool by seeding these altered versions? Or, if I want to be a responsible torrenter, do I need to keep duplicate versions, at least until my share ratio is 1:1?

Thanks.

EDIT:

Thank you to all those who took the time to comment and upvote. I've setup a 'pipeline' for seeding unaltered originals.

McLaren PR put out some BS about 'respecting the office'. That cunt didn't respect his own office, nor those he swore to serve. He has publicly said and done undeniably reprehensible things. I'm fucking sick of the type of people who feel they're too polite to be political and then are 'dismayed' by the direction society is headed in.

Zak, if you wanna degrade yourself, do it away from one of Britain's most venerated sporting institutions, for fuck's sake.

The problem is that, this helps Putin. If we assume he has no regard for human life, then this is a massive opportunity for him. He's made the most out of opportunities like this one in the past.

This attack on innocent lives is a profound tragedy as it is. I wish I could spend more time dwelling on the plight of the victims but my brain won't stop panicking about all the ways Putin can exploit this situation to ruin even more lives.

It's why I couldn't shake the idea that this might be a false flag operation. It's why I can't deny the prospect that perhaps Russian security services didn't do all they could to stop this before it occurred.

My thoughts to the victims and those close to them.

CW: References to suicide.

I will try and keep this succinct.

I was diagnosed with ADHD-C in November 2022 and started on 20mg Elvanse/Vyvanse/Lisdexamfetamine. By Spring 2023 I'd worked my way up to 40mg. Two weeks ago, February 2024, I started on 50mg.

The 50mg has been a massive help to me. I've been much more productive and felt much more fulfilled. I stopped feeling suicidal. Around a week after upping the dose, I began noticing my heart racing and occasionally feeling tense or hyper-aware of parts of my body. The racing heart in particular is kind of irritating and I'd rather it stop. I've checked my blood pressure and it's healthy.

I recall similar sensations for maybe around a month after I was first put on Lisdexamfetamine but I am not sure how long they lasted for. I don't recall these sensations when I went from 30mg to 40mg.

I'm looking for some assurance that if I maintain a healthy lifestyle and check my BP regularly, that this will resolve itself in-time?

Relevant medical info:

  • Cisgender man
  • Late 20s
  • approx. 90kg/198lb
  • approx. 22% bf

EDIT: Updated with this morning's BP reading.

119/79 80bpm

EDIT 2: I'm going to provide reasoning as to why I haven't gone straight to my doctor about this. Firstly, the dose increase has been life-changing and I'd be so upset if I had to go back down. Secondly, I live in the post-satirical apocalypsescape formerly known as the United Kingdom and am therefore under the care of a private psychiatrist. Just to get on the phone with them would cost £100s and I'm relying on family assistance, which I feel guilty enough about spending. I could, within a few weeks, arrange to see my general practitioner for free but I don't think they'd be able to suggest anything aside from reducing my meds. Thirdly, I have faint memories discussing palpitations with my psychiatrist last year and he said that as long as I was monitoring my BP they'd pass.

EDIT 3: I honestly appreciate the concern of all of those who have taken the time to post. I've decided to send a message to my psychiatrist explaining the situation.

EDIT 2024-03-21: Received an email from my psychiatrist stating that as long as they're manageable and the dosage is helping, I'm safe to continue. They encouraged me to keep monitoring my blood pressure and heart rate. They suggested I be vigilant of chest pains or shortness of breath.

"The superintendent responsible for the city centre personally discussed the incident with the officer and made it clear that her actions were unacceptable and must not be repeated.

"She, along with other employees, received refresher training on how to deal with similar situations in the future."

I have no words.

Is that supposed to be a dick pic? Genuinely took me a minute to figure out what I was supposed to be looking at.

If these aren't fake, I don't understand how Red Bull can say Horner is innocent. This is horribly inappropriate behaviour. Any woman would be put off working at RBR now, in case they're subject to the same exploitative power dynamics.

Can someone explain to me what Reddit's costs are supposed to be? It's not like they have to pay licences for things like music or have to host insanely large media files. Their content generation and moderation is free. For a long time their website was barebones and they didn't have to make an official app. I can never even recall them advertising until recently.

She's literally British. She was raised here and it's the sole citizenship she holds. What we are doing is illegal and a shirking of our responsibilities to Syrian people, Bangladeshi people, and her. If she's a criminal and an extremist, it's our job to accept her back and deal with that. If she was an adolescent who made a series of terrible errors, endured the most traumatic things, and is genuinely repentant, it's our job to accept her back and deal with that.

Taking this post as a platform to rally against cutlery that isn't fashioned from a single piece of metal but has a useless metal or plastic handle. When you take them out of the dishwasher, a pool of warm, stagnant , vaguely soap-smelling water will pour out onto your wrist and wet your sleeve and my week is ruined.

For the record, I haven't experienced this in years but I carry the trauma.

For Brianna's mother's sake, I'm relieved that Sunak used the correct pronouns when he spoke about Brianna at the end. However, what does it say about Sunak and this bullshit, culture war transphobia that he did use the correct pronouns for Brianna?

The whole thrust of the attack was to imply that Starmer doesn't know what a woman is but then when it's convenient, Sunak tacitly agrees with Starmer that Brianna was a woman.

I'd almost have more sympathy for Sunak if I thought he was a misinformed transphobe. I resent him more because I don't believe he genuinely cares, like some do. I have never had any reason to believe he thinks there is any problem with trans people. Yet, he is willing to endanger the lives of these beleaguered, threatened innocent people, for what? For the fucking Conservative and Unionist party. A reprehensible institution that has done infinitely more damage in the real world than any trans person has caused in the most batshit, unhinged nightmares of a Mail Online commenter.

This is a post complaining about an operating system. Someone else recommends an operating system that doesn't have this problem. Where's the circlejerk?

I've experienced burnout throughout work and education since I was sixteen. Usually around once every 12-18 months. I've accrued a lot of associated trauma.

For context, burnout for me is extreme depression and executive dysfunction lasting for months at a time to the extent I stop all work and social activities.
