Oddly? This is not odd at all.

It's been a while sincce I wrote code, but I'll try to remember. Basically disk size and ram size have no connection. Disk size is for already generated assets (maybe you need to remember how the planes look like, so you create assets for all the planes. Or you want to have textures for the scenery, or for the Lincoln monument, or whatever).

But then you need to load those resources into RAM to access them faster, because if you try to load them directly from disk, it's a lot slower. So some part of those 64GB of RAM is because you are loading some premade assets.

But aside from this, there's also dynamically generated data that you have no way of knowing about at the beginning of the program, so you can't prepare in advance and generate assets for it. Like say for example the player wants to begin flying the plane - he's gonna have some different inputs than any other player. Maybe he drives slower at the beginning, or goes a little to the right when he takes off. Or his destination will be completely different. You now need to remember his velocity, his position on the map, the direction of his flight, his altitude, his plane's weight and who knows what else, I'm not a pilot. All of this, you allocate memory dynamically, based on user changes, and this uses the RAM as well.

Not to mention - you can make a 1kb program that takes 64 GB of RAM. You just ask the operating system for that much memory. You don't even need to fully use it. It'll take you one line of code.

All this to say - nothing odd about the program being smaller than the RAM requirements. It can mean it's not optimized, but it can also mean it has a lot of dynamic calculations that it's doing and a lot of stuff it needs to remember (and in the case of a flight Sim this wouldn't surprise me).

My city's taxi system was completely changed by Uber, as were many parts of the country. So while it might not be true anymore, and taxi drivers with bad attitudes and those fudging the meter might have been mostly weeded out, it's because of Uber that this happened. And it's because of their unions that it hadn't happened before. But the moment there started being some competition in town as opposed to their previous monopoly on the market, they had to back down if they wanted to even survive, let alone come out on top over Uber.

So while yes, uber employees are being fucked over, that has less of an impact on things than you imply. I'll still get an Uber/Bolt instead of a taxi 9/10 times, because immoral business practices are still better than immoral & illegal practices backed by a monopoly that you are powerless to change.

It could be, if she wants it to be.

It could also be the type of case where her lawyers stop openAI from ever using her voice again, if she wants that to be the case.

Being rich opens up options. If openAI would be using my voice instead, they'd have a wildly less popular product but nobody to sue them for it, cause I'd be using my money to still dream about home ownership at some point before I die, not to hire lawyers or fight windmills.

See, the beauty of a screenshot like this is - it captures a great moment in time. It's the moment someone should realize they are wrong. And that's a perfect moment. It's evocative. We've all been wrong before, we know what it's like. We can feel their reaction by how we ourselves reacted in the past. Or how we wished we had.

Now, this moment could have several different outcomes: that person could admit they're wrong and learn from it, they could panic and backtrack, they could delete their tweet or account out of shame, they could double down and be even more wrong and increase the lulz, they could come back with valid arguments and change your opinion etc. But. Depending on what your position is to the initial argument, you may not be satisfied with the outcome. You may find it annoying or roll your eyes. Of course it's possible that you find it even better than the initial moment, but that's not a guarantee.

So this screenshot is a tease in a way, but in other ways it's also a complete package. It won't have a disappointing ending. It won't promise more of itself and then fail to deliver. You can see the screenshot, imagine the outcome you want, and scroll to the next one.

This screenshot is... enough.

Also, I'll be fucked before I use anything musk has been associated with, I don't wanna support that asshole.

So you chauffered him around for free, no strings attached, and are now wondering why he thinks he's royalty.

Next time you help him out, drop him off in the nearby woods with a camera, asking for a video on how alphas hunt.

I don't get how you can be 'too progressive'. Surely progress is a good thing, no? If you're against progress, you're in favor of things remaining as they are or getting worse. To me, that's just being a cunt.

I guess what I'm saying is, "Pope removes bishop for being too much of a cunt" would've been a good headline also.

People don't have a strong intuitive sense of how much bigger one thousand is than one.

One second is one second.

One thousand seconds is like 15 minutes idk it's not very intuitive.

Anyway, it's about a thousand times bigger.

Hope this helps.

I should find some better hobbies.

I didn't think Texans would be so easily convinced to give up their civil liberties, this doesn't sound like the "stand your ground" state. If this isn't reason enough for the people of Texas to make use of the second amendment's right to bare arms, intended exactly for situations like this - for citizens to protect themselves when their government oversteps, I don't know what is.

Musk and Grimes first had a son together, named X Æ A-12, and then a daughter born via surrogate in 2021 named Exa Dark Sideræl Musk. They refer to them as "X" and "Y."

At this point I'm convinced there should be a test you take before the court allows you to procreate. Now hear me out, cause I know how it sounds. But maybe it can be a very simple test, with just one question: "do you plan to put more thought into naming your children than a junior dev does into naming their variables?"

To keep it very brief:

  • the setting is awesome, a fantasy world with lots of lore, because it's D&D - there has been a lot of lore written about it, even if not about this particular game necessarily. So people are already familiar with how things work
  • the company making the game has put out great games in this genre(crpg) with innovative features and engaging gameplay. They have been constantly improving and listening to the community, and don't seem to be one of the companies that are just chasing the next money-making scheme, as they don't support today's P2W or subscription-based models, and even shy away from DLCs, instead opting to give you your money's worth with only one purchase. They also design their games with replayability in mind and with a pretty big scope, so if you like the game you can easily spend hundreds of hours for that $60. Overall pretty good guys
  • not many d&d games have come out recently (some pathfinder ones have been good contenders though), so this scratches a market itch
  • the full power of an AAA title for a previously considered nerdy topic. Imagine if comic books suddenly got a 3D movie
