He is talking about fossils, they are not bones, just imprint of them.

No no, please don't do this without eye protection. I did some grinding without eye protection, didn't hurt or anything, but day later doctor had to drill metal particles out from my eye balls.

0/10, would not recommend

and they said that I cannot get MRI ever again, because some small particles might be still inside and magnet can pull them out. Fun stuff.

Business & Industry uses over 75% of electricity in Ireland. Residential energy usage really is not that much, in any country in the world.

Same with CO2, almost all of it is created by industries.

One very important detail missing here is that Windows 10 is going to be end-of-support in 2025. You won't get security updates.

It is going to be shitshow.

In my 20's, a girl in bar queue told me that she knows how to compile kernel from the source. I asked her to marry me instantly, but unfortunately she was not available.

They did it once by mixing meters and feets, and crashed the Mars lander.

Edit: looked it up, wasn't actually meters vs feet, but newton-seconds vs some American eagles per gun unit for force

You Americans should get to this century and start performing digital strong authentications like the rest of us. Sending picture of your ID to anyone is insane :)

How we do it here in Finland is that there are digital identity providers which use bank/mobile carrier to identify you. They then use MFA when identifying you. Any service can use these services to do strong authentication for you. And they don't cost anything for the customer, and is really cheap for the company who wants to identify you. It is also build into the law that you must identify people using these, to avoid identity theft.

This is just plain stupid.

Forcing browser to block certain sites is like making car manufacturers make the car shutdown if you are trying to smuggle foreign cheese in to France.

Tech illiterates making the decision here.

It doesn't really matter who corporate shill runs reddit, reddit is already over the edge that they only care about what is under the line. Fediverse is the future!

I found from hard way that lemmy community urls are bit problematic. Here is the story, which contains bit NSFW material.

I was trying to figure out in Jerboa how to subscribe to community in another instance. First one that I came across, that i was not subscribed to was !hairypussy@pornlemmy. com. (I know, I know, I am a perv)

I copy pasted the community path to my android clipboard, and tried few ways in the app, and eventually gave up.

Some time passes, until I went to do some shopping. My wife and I use a shared shopping list. From this shopping list I found this beatiful community path.

My wife had a laugh, but I was worried that If she would have been bit more jelous side, she could have made a assumption from the structure of the path.

The thing is that !hairypussy @ pornlemmy. com looks like email address. This could have been misunderstood quuuite badly.

I am a coder also, so @ is sensible separator, and serves the same purpose as in email. Probably it should not change, but the structure can cause misunderstandings with some communities and lemmy instance urls. Of course here main issue is user error, and any link to some bad site can be issue, but people understand what website URL is.

Please let me know if this needs NSFW tag.

Embrace, extend, extinguish. Only proven way to destroy decentralized, free, open source solutions.

First stage embrace might not even be malicious, but with corporations it will eventually lead to someone thinking: how can we monetize our position. It is just nature how business works.
