I don't get it. The drawing is pretty cool, but the "joke" is just.. not funny?
Comic Strips
Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.
Rules
-
π Be Nice!
- Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
-
ποΈ Community Standards
- Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
- Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
- Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
- Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
-
𧬠Keep it Real
- Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
-
π½οΈ Credit Where Credit is Due
- Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
- Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
-
π Post Formatting
- Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
- Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
- When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
β Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
β Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
-
π¬ Post Frequency/SPAM
- Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 π) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 π) will be removed.
-
π΄ββ οΈ Internationalization (i18n)
- Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
SΓ, por favor [Spanish/EspaΓ±ol]
- Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
-
πΏ Moderation
- We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
- When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Banned Artists
The following artists are banned from the community.
- Jago
- Stonetoss
It should be noted that when you make reports, it is your responsibility to provide rational reasoning why something should be removed. Saying it simply breaks community rules is not always good enough.
Web Accessibility
Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.
When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:
Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

This kind of argument is like demanding that every video game be "fun". There's other stimulus to explore than just that.

I was thinking of comics from this time, actually.
If you've never seen this, it has some absurdist gems. They're all parodies of CAD. https://cad-comic.tumblr.com/
That's Blujay. Rarely funny. Occasionally fascist. Still keeps trying for some reason.
Just skimmed their history. They have decent art skill, but the jokes often read as being deep for a teenager.
For a hot moment I thought maybe they know English as a second language and the humor was lost in translation. Manga sometimes hits me like that.
That said, there is a reason some artists team up with one making the jokes and the other making the art.
It takes a lot to put your stuff out there, and their panels eventually do have a positive response. I am guessing they are figuring it out.
Yeah, I started out saying 'Keep trying, Jay,' but they just kept not being funny, and then they did some weird fascist ones and I settled on 'Maybe comics just aren't their thing. Maybe they should try something else.'
What were the fascist themes? I'm curious
I mean, the relevant threat there was being turned in to a "human puddle," and that's exactly what happened for the person playing it safe, just because some idiot insisted because of special reasons, and all because some kiddie wanted her whimsical present.
Anyway, that was my take. And indeed a chronic clusterfluff, as you get to know 'princess mentality' and 'elite mentality,' and all that...
Good comic!
Maybe if we knew the characters better, idk. Maybe it's a running bag like killing Kenny.
Nope. Blujay just isn't funny. If they're back and going to try posting again, you will see.
Dude hΓ’ve hobbies. As long as hΓ© doesn't hurt anybody, he can draw. It got a smirk out of le though. The situation while unrealistic is funny.
I'm not saying he can't post, just that he has done so many times and hasn't really shown any signs of improvement. This comic is... inoffensive at least.
Yep, I see your wings are burnt. I still don't know him enough and still have an naive view.
I think your autocorrect is set to another language....
They appear to also speak French, so ya.
"diurnambule" is a play on "noctambule" which is French for a night owl kind of person (or, in a more archaic form, someone afflicted with sleepwalking. Literally means "who walks during the night"). So a "diurnambule" would be someone who... is more active during the day, I guess. Anyway, yeah, that sounds like French.
Could it be daywalker, as a vampire?
Oh wow youβre right, apparently "diurnambule" is how they translated daywalker in the French version of the Blade movies. Had no idea.
It sounds a bit funny, but I guess it works.
That's funny. The only reason I had that on my mind is because I accomplished something recently and wanted to play the Blade soundtrack from the blood rave: New Order - Confusion.
As a fellow french, that's one funny autocorrect. Never happens to me on gboard lol
I was thinking they might be Swiss or something, but it could be just stylization for anti AI measures, like how some people use thorn.
I find them funny!
The joke is that events transpire and one character experiences negative emotions
