Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

On May 13, the FBI’s Fayetteville Field Office contacted the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and turned over the information to investigators. Investigators obtained a search warrant for Bynum’s home and on May 15, searched the house in Oakland, where they seized a computer and related accessories. Bynum was taken into custody without incident, according to Sheriff Gregg Alexander. He was booked into the Marion County Detention Center and his bond was set at $2,500.

Threatens to do a mass shooting if locked down

Gets locked up for threatening a mass shooting

What a fucking idiot

[–] PrettyFlyForAFatGuy@feddit.uk 31 points 5 days ago

He got locked up, not down.

Checkmate

[–] ouRKaoS@lemmy.today 4 points 5 days ago (2 children)

So is this cruel & unusual punishment? Punishing him with the thing he wanted to prevent?

[–] Manjushri@piefed.social 3 points 4 days ago

This is the USA. Locking someone up may well be a cruel punishment, but it is by no means unusual.

[–] WhoIzDisIz@lemmy.today 3 points 5 days ago

No, this is a self-fulfilling prophecy.

When or where has anyone gotten near proposing a hantavirus lockdown? I can only imagine this guy’s news sources.

And then, how would shooting a bunch of random innocent people at Walmart address his grievance about that?

Hey! He’s a p o I t I c a l

[–] empireOfLove2@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 5 days ago (1 children)

There's a bunch of memes floating around normie social media about hantavirus being covid 2.0. I guess with enough mental illness that can be misconstrued into there being a hantavirus lockdown.

We really really need to address the critical thinking skills in this country...

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 15 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Karens are gonna Karen.

I bet this guy spent most of the Covid years just wilding the fuck out, being Antiva/Antima, anti social distancing, anti any measure that might have harmed his or his orange Jesus' fragile ego. I bet he raged out about Fauci and "gain of function" research, too...

Way to go, chuckles!

[–] chromeleon@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

If he's 20 now, he was 14-15 when covid started.

[–] Montagge@lemmy.zip 1 points 5 days ago

He was 14 in 2020

"...they seized a computer and related accessories." - Like the mouse, monitor and keyboard? Maybe also a game the cops wanted?

Did they leave the guns for the next self-spiralling meltdown?

[–] abigscaryhobo@lemmy.world 9 points 5 days ago

They found 3 copies of The Sims lol

[–] Nosavingthrow@lemmy.world 7 points 5 days ago (1 children)

"Arkansas man engages in mass shootings in empty mall."

[–] bss03@infosec.pub 6 points 5 days ago

I'm not sure that's even a crime here, as long as the mall is on county land and not some liberalized city. /s

[–] Mynameisallen@lemmy.zip 6 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Ok, quick question, if there’s a lockdown where the hell is he going to do a mass shooting???

[–] frongt@lemmy.zip 3 points 5 days ago

You're putting way more thought into this than he did

[–] 6stringringer@lemmy.zip 1 points 5 days ago

Maybe wherever those that are defying lockdown orders are gathered? Just a thought.

[–] GutterRat42@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

The PTSD from Covid is real. I have heard highschool kids asking why they haven't sunk the ships to prevent the virus from spreading

[–] hardcoreufo@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Why would there be a lockdown unless we were drowning in rat shit like "A Plague Tale?" Cruise ships get outbreaks of hantavirus because rats have been hanging out on ships since the first ship.

[–] Viceversa@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago

It's spreading between humans too.

[–] Croquette@sh.itjust.works 2 points 5 days ago

Because the people that were on the cruise ship are fucking retarded and are spreading the disease
