Sarah Beckstrom, one of the national guard troops shot in Washington DC on Wednesday, has died, Donald Trump said on Thursday.

Beckstrom, 20, was one of two members of the national guards shot near the White House in a targeted attack. The other member, Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still fighting for his life, according to the president.

Beckstrom’s father had told the New York Times in a phone call earlier in the day that his daughter was unlikely to recover. “I’m holding her hand right now,” Gary Beckstrom said. “She has a mortal wound. It’s not going to be a recovery.”

Both Beckstrom and Wolfe belonged to the West Virginia National Guard, which deployed hundreds of troops to Washington as part of Trump’s crime-fighting mission in the capital.

The blood is all on Donald Trump's hand. These troops were ILLEGALLY in DC and have no reason to be there.

Donald Trump granted this man asylum, so once again, it's all Donald Trump's fault.

RIP Sarah.

downvoters are literally coping. Saber rattling idiots

The Trump regime killed this woman by unnecessarily putting a military force in an exposed position to perform tasks for which they are ill-suited, just like the US did in Afghanistan. Now, they will callously wield her memory as a political tool to channel racism against Afghan refuges that had the audacity to assist in the US invasion of Afghanistan.

The message is clear: NEVER help the United States government, they will fuck you over just to satisfy the whims of rich narcissists.

Don't forget all the people they promised they'd protect in Afghanistan, promising to bring them and their family to USA in exchange for information and helping with interpretation, and as a result becoming an enemy of whichever terrorist organisation had a hold in the area. Just to leave them behind and forget everything about them.

[–] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 76 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Donald Trump murdered this woman, and did so during the intentional, knowing commission of other major crimes. Never, ever forget. Never, ever forgive.

[–] SereneSadie@quokk.au 37 points 1 day ago

There's a lot of Venezuelan fishermen he's already murdered that i frankly feel a lot more sorry for.

'Just following orders' is not an excuse accepted at Nuremberg.

Deployed on a bogus mission just to have this outcome. Ordered by a felon rapist president, who found bone spurs when it came time for his duty. He should also be sitting in a prison cell due to his insurrection activities. Instead, he gets to send youngsters to die for nothing.

[–] kmartburrito@lemmy.world 76 points 1 day ago (3 children)

He should have been put in front of a firing squad when he and Epstein raped a 13 year old girl. Then this would have never happened. Stolen justice.

[–] TheReanuKeeves@lemmy.world 20 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I wonder in 20, 50, 100 years, how this will be taught in history class. If the truth will be told or if he will be remembered as the MAGA superstar that some people still believe he is. The fact that he was allowed a second term at all doesn't give me much hope.

[–] rayyy@piefed.social 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If the truth will be told

Nope. Republicans tried to overthrow the government before and that was virtually erased.

[–] TheReanuKeeves@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Wow. Instead of Hitler and the nazis we nearly had Butler and the republicans.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago

Maybe we’ll get lucky and an angry mob will turn the ballroom into a guillotine room

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Sad part is there are many reasons you could say he should be put in front of a firing squad for. I hate him more than should be possible.

[–] Madison420@lemmy.world 28 points 1 day ago

They never found bone spurs, that was just the claim to get a 4f. I believe his personal doctor provided a note like many politically connected or wealthy families did.

[–] jazzkoalapaws@ttrpg.network 23 points 1 day ago

More blood on the ruling class' hands.

I feel bad for their children who are going to have to collect.

[–] tidderuuf@lemmy.world 69 points 1 day ago (1 children)

She wouldn't have died if they weren't needlessly there in the first place.

[–] WizardofFrobozz@lemmy.ca -1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

She wouldn’t have died if she’d had the courage to refuse illegal orders.

Womp womp.

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Which orders were illegal in this case?

[–] One_Honest_Dude@lemmy.world 5 points 21 hours ago

Judge rules Trump’s DC National Guard deployment was illegal - POLITICO https://share.google/drgPRPfbvJQwEthBs

[–] WizardofFrobozz@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Is it your position that she was blissfully clueless of the fact that she was being sent to intimidate & terrorize her fellow citizens?

If she was a decent person, she'd be alive today.

Good riddance.

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 2 points 18 hours ago

I was curious whether they were actually doing anything illegal. National guard can't actually do anything stateside besides disaster relief, so when they're activated for "unrest" they're just there to look scary or whatever. They literally don't do shit.

Another actually helpful lemming pointed out the deployment itself was illegal, but that wasn't even clear until the ruling because Trump literally is their commander. Him deploying other states' guards on title 10 orders is blatantly illegal, DC wasn't as clear cut.

[–] Gammelfisch@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

Illegally deployed and Krasnov is thinking more suckers and losers for his fucked up agenda. Are these troops wearing body armor? Krasnov failed to examine the shooters visa extension.

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 37 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Trump should be put to trail for this. Their blood is on his hands.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago

Put it on the list of his thousands of crimes

[–] rafoix@lemmy.zip 12 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Nah, it’s Biden’s fault. Everything that’s happens now is Biden’s fault. Everything that happened during a Trump’s presidency is Biden’s fault.

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Thanks Obama

[–] 14th_cylon@lemmy.zip 9 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

they are already doing that by spreading "he came to us during biden administration".

he worked for us occupation forces in afghanistan and when they withdrew, they let people who worked for them to come to us to prevent them being executed on the spot by taliban. guess which master of deals fucked up the whole withdrawal process?

[–] rafoix@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I’m not sure if I would want people that help occupying forces attack their own country to come to my country. It’s a very iffy situation 100% created by the warmongering neoliberals in the GOP and DNC.

[–] gAlienLifeform@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Maybe our country shouldn't send those occupying forces next time then, but we did this time, and now the only decent thing for us to do is stand by the people our scumbag leaders put on the front lines of their foreign policy choices

[–] khepri@lemmy.world 22 points 1 day ago

Well let's do the reasonable thing and make sure no one with similar skin color to the shooter is ever allowed to immigrate here again

[–] Rhoeri@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I’ll wager he couldn’t be more pleased with how it turned out.

It's those ILLEGALS faults that this West Virginian was killed by a Legal Resident in Washington DC! If ONLY ~~they Didn't Deploy West Virginians to DC for No Reason~~ ILLEGALS WERE EXTERMINATED she'd still be Alive!

[–] chosensilence@pawb.social -3 points 1 day ago
