Spoiler

A friend sent this from an accident this morning in the mountains of NC. A cybertruck must have hydroplaned off the road onto the support wire for a telephone pole. Obviously noone was hurt, but that cable is stronger than I thought.

Late to the party but,

Still love the truck, though

[DAVID ATTENBOROUGH VOICEOVER]

Much like its domesticated cousins, in the wild, the Cybertruck marks its territory by exhibiting various scent-marking behaviors, including cheek rubbing, claw marking, and spraying a concentrated mixture of pheromones and urine from a gland near its battery compartment. Here we see one such specimen crouching down on its front wheels and marking a telephone pole in an effort to ward off its natural predator, the fire truck.

Great ending.

"@groKKK@hexbear.net what is stronger, Elons Cybertruck or a phone pole?"

"Elons Cyber Truck for sure! Elons epic engineering skills mean that the Cybertruck could take that pole like a champ!"

"Huehuehue awesome let's fucking go time to show that pole who's boss! crash"

also sorry to post a slightly pro cybertruck comment but is that an impressive frame at least, like shit, that looks like it's defying some sort of physics there. I imagine the occupants liquified on impact but it's just like planted in there like columbus planting a flag

[–] john_brown@hexbear.net 21 points 2 days ago (1 children)

it's sitting on a support wire for the telephone pole. The support cable is the real MVP here, any shitbox would look the same but this particular shitbox weighs way more than normal

[–] LeeeroooyJeeenkiiins@hexbear.net 13 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

oh thank you sorry I literally couldn't see it, even leaning in close it's kinda hard to see

/continuing my shitpost

but would any old shitbox not be cleaved in half as it careened into the support wire now holding it up? i think not, Elon Musk used his experience with a hundred rocket failures to engineer the cybertruck for this exact situation

I've seen pictures of cars and trucks oriented like this, hell you can sometimes find entire vehicles hanging from powerlines by one wheel. Top result from a seach: https://www.wboy.com/emergencies/pickup-left-hanging-from-power-lines-after-crash-causing-power-outage-in-upshur-county/

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 3 points 2 days ago

How is it that - as far as I know - a sequence featuring that has never appeared in a dystopia or zombie movie or tv series? I've seen a shitton of dystopia and zombie stuff.

It was a joooooke but yeah

[–] blunder@hexbear.net 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I feel like the rigidity of frame is more likely to kill the passengers, right? Because then all the force of impact goes through them instead of into a crumple zone.

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 2 points 2 days ago

a crumple zone.

Elon looked upon many decades of research involving injuries and deaths from vehicle accidents and told everybody "I got a better solution!"

Ding-dong ditch.

only thinking I'm turning my chinese chauvanism (not to imply i'm chinese i'm not) up to like a 5-6 compared to american chauvanism, ignoring the cybertruck, are there any ditches in China that look this shit? 0 aesthetics, drab ass trees, honestly the only thing that impresses me is that the roads are painted (a rarity in america)
