As I recall, the plan that passed contains "it only happens if Texas does it" and "it's temporary".
That was removed as Texas has moved ahead first, so that provision was struck

All jokes aside, this will immediately get tossed because Texas did this exact same thing FIRST, and without a populous vote. There is no legal standing for this whatsoever, aside from trying to play the DEI card, which of course they will, but it will fail.
The funnier result would be to have California maps overturned, and then immediately have Texas' And every other red shithole's maps ruined by the now standing precedent lol
Or the courts will find some way to single out CA's map; like the fact that they even had a public referendum makes it illegal ... Maybe that's a bit cynical, but that's where I'm at these days.

This is a states' rights issue: the right of the state to do what is convenient for the states' rights party.
It’s journalistic malpractice that the title of this article suggests the California referendum will be what tips control of Congress. Congress is tipped, the California referendum only seeks to right it.
It ain’t going to right it. It’s just going to make it less tipped toward the GOP.
The GOP is also like to gain 2-3 seats in Ohio, and 1 in Missouri with these shady midcycle redistricting efforts.
All in all, this BS will probably net the GOP 2-3 seats as it stands now.
True, but my point was more of that the referendum does not seek to give advantage to Democrats.
Perhaps naïvely, I have a small degree of hope that the overall electric being unhappy with the Republicans might actually backfire on their redistricting plans.
Democrats shitting the bed and then not only capitulating to the Republican shutdown but further negotiating away the ACA subs, hemp, and paying over $500k-Millions to multiple GOP reps, doesn't help the momentum gained prior to a few nights ago. I hope that further emboldens voters to get out, vote against the GOP, but also vote those turncoats out on the "left". God I'm so fucking pissed at them....

They've already tanked their own case, by not saying anything about any of the Republican states that are currently doing the same thing. This is selective prosecution.

They’re going to try to prove this lie, despite CA saying that this was purely about political party power, not race. And the SCOTUS already said that horseshit is perfectly fine.
Is there actually a plan to get a ruling without precluding all their gerrymandering power grabs? Or are they just going by the seat of their pants?
