I just realized tonight that after having my CPAP for 5 years, the chronic shoulder pain I've lived with since I was a child is gone. My shoulder pain came from sleeping on my arms at night, to the point that they would lose circulation and feeling. Sometimes I even tore my shoulder trying to turn over when is lost feeling in my arms. I thought everyone must sleep like that and didn't realize I had sleep apnea and I was using my arms to help prop myself up. Now with my CPAP I can comfortably sleep on my back, and it has been years since I've had shoulder pain.

I highly recommend a CPAP for all around good health!

I’ve been considering going to a sleep clinic. But a part of me is thinking of just buying a CPAP and seeing if it helps. Cheaper and I don’t have to go anywhere.

Depending on your insurance it might not be all that expensive. And yeah, the sleep study sucks, but it's just a 1 time thing.

Thanks. I’ve a feeling my problem is intermittent, so I’m guessing there’s a chance they could miss whatever the issue is. I see machines fro €100-600 so there seems to be affordable options.

I've been so happy my husband got a cpap. He's been so much more rested with it it's amazing.

And I no longer have to shove him a dozen times a night to get him to stop snoring so I can also get some sleep lol.

Im only a few months in to my CPAP treatment for sleep apnoea and its been shocking to realize just how much stress my body has been under for my whole life. The first few weeks were crazy with mood swings of black depression and manic energy bursts, but it is slowly evening out and now im actually feeling rested after sleep. I'm early forties, never energetic or sporty though not overweight. Just unable to do alot physically. Now for the first time i am exercising on my own impetus and i feel i might make it past my fifties. Doc said my overnight oxygen levels were so low i would have been hospitalised in any other circumstance, but all i knew was that i was apparently a bad snorer. It has been a few months of pain but my god the benefit is real in my case.

Breathing is important! Who would have guessed? :D

I wore a CPAP for years, then lost a bunch of weight and now I don’t even need it!

Right?! Oxygen is awesome.

I wish my CPAP did anything for me. I thought maybe it would help me sleep but I'm still tired all the time, though maybe it would help my back but now I contort more to keep it on when I'm rolling around.

The only benefit that is tangible is my wife sleeps better because I snore less.

CPAP, the breathing apparatus?

[–] hankskyjames777@thebrainbin.org 1 points 13 hours ago

Yup, forces air/oxygen into your body

I'm really glad you got that much out of yours because I fucking hate mine. At least it works for someone.

I dont know your circumstance, but just to say that if you haven't been on long it is hard, recovery takes months (at least) and benefits are not immediate... it kind of creeps up on you i found.

Wait until you figure out reading in bed with your jaw resting on your pillow because you got old and started wearing glasses causes your TMJ pain

First I read "My CRAP." Glad your pain is gone.

Once I had some very painful nerve pain in my back, but after taking a huge dump something snapped and it instantly felt better.

A good poop cures a lot of ailments.

I have a doctor's note to go do a test for a CPAP. I should get to it.
