No fucking shit. What is supposed to change until things are actually reopened and, more importantly, payments resume?

since some already have resigned , its not going to return to normal anytime soon.
That's certainly true, too. Still beyond dumb to report on this as if things should be back to normal already.
It's the American Paradigm.
"See? Everything's fine. You're overreacting. X is a good leader. Well I haven't had any issues..."
They said run like a business. It's running like an airline business.
Yeah, because a lot of flight controllers STILL have to pickup gig work or else resign from their positions in order to pay the bills.
That means less air coverage, which in turn means mandatory flight reductions.
Even if the government 100% reopened this minute, it'll still probably be around another 2 weeks before the first round of paychecks go out, and even then it won't be enough to cover nearly a month and a half without income.
The effects of this shutdown will still be felt for months.
we know as soon as congresspeople got scared thier flights were getting canceled they would cave eventually.
Don't they have private jets anyway? /s
Private jets need controllers. Gravity and hard earth are the great equalizers.
At least we got nothing out of it.
Afaik, paychecks are supposed to cover time worked without pay. It's delayed, not skipped entirely.
Duffy said that ATC resignations and retirements rose from about 4-per-day before the shutdown, to about 15-20 every day now. No it's not going to get better quickly.
It's ok, I'm sure the president threatening to dock their pay will convince them to stick around. /s
international ATC is looking for ATC from the USA if they are interested, and they are less likely to pull fuckery like this.
4/day is still alot considered how limited thier workforce is already. unless they are offering them substantial payraise above the current, its unlikely to change.
Oh cool. Democrats betrayed the poor and the nation's air travel infrastructure is still capsizing.
why does it feel like flight cancellations and subsidies for private insurance companies got more attention than no EBT or government workers missing checks
Change only happens fast when the upper class and middle class are inconvenienced enough.
Private jets were going to be affected today by ATC. That data point makes it all make sense.
Because in the US, you only exist in a democracy if you are in the top 10% of the income distribution. This has actually been proven empirically. The opinions and preferences of the bottom 90% of the population has zero influence on what legislation Congress eventually passes.
This is why Democrat's plan to run on defending democracy or simply not being Trump has failed so hard. Only 10% of the country has ever actually lived in a democracy. You cannot ask people to defend a democracy that they themselves are not members of.
One affects poor people, the other affects rich people.
This means we already know what most people, especially talking heads, are going to care about.
Why should they? It's a chance to get rehired at triple your previous rate.
