Welcome to Risa

All the pleasure of shore leave, none of the holodeck glitches.

Rule 1 — Be Civil, Not KlingonThis is a vacation planet, not the neutral zone.

  • No harassment, brigading, or trolling
  • No bigotry
  • Keep the banter playful, not hostile

Rule 2 — No Prohibited CargoSome things aren’t welcome aboard.

  • No spam or scams
  • No porn or sexually explicit content
  • No illegal content
  • NSFW memes must be properly tagged

Rule 3 — Keep It TrekPosts should be Star Trek memes or Trek-adjacent humor.

  • Crossovers are fine
  • Low-effort “unrelated” memes may be spaced out the nearest airlock

Rule 4 — Gatekeeping Belongs in a Black Hole
You’re welcome to have your own opinions on what counts as “real” Star Trek but forcing your view on others or pretending it’s the only valid one? That’s not the Starfleet way.
Everyone’s Trek is valid, from TOS purists to Lower Decks shitposters, and you don't get to dictate what is real or not for everyone.

If you see a post that violates the rules, or that doesn't inspire Jamaharon, report it so the mods can handle it.

Otherwise grab a horga’hn, order a Risan Mai Tai, and enjoy your shore leave.

Why do I get the feeling this is about Discovery again?

While the first thing that comes to mind for me is Discovery, this genuinely applies to all Trek.

People who love TOS vs people who think it's camp garbage. People who loved TNG vs those who thought it was a detraction from TOS and worse. People who love DS9 and those who thought it was antithetical to everything Star Trek stood for. People who loved Voyager vs people who thought it was a nonsensical story with a dumb captain. People who loved Enterprise and those who thought it was an offensive slap in the face by Berman. People who loved the Kelvin movies vs those who wanted "real Trek". People who loved Discovery vs those who thought it was emotional and too action based. People who loved Prodigy vs those hated it following kids who weren't in Starfleet. People who loved Picard vs those who thought it undid what came before. People who loved Lower Decks vs the people who thought it was mocking Star Trek. People who love Strange New Worlds vs people who hate yet another prequel treading ground we know.

I'd say people who loved Section 31 vs anyone else but I've literally never met someone who has loved Section 31. Fuck sakes, not even I could finish watching it.

Point being that Trek fans have been bitching at one another since its inception. Discovery didn't break ground there. If anything it just re-tread the same ground that both TNG and the Kelvin movies did. Both were released and hated upon release by "real Trekkies". Overtime both ended up getting a place of love. Honestly, Enterprise is also getting the same treatment. When all those shows were first released, if you looked at the general community you'd think that the shows were completely hated. Things change. I think Section 31 might be the exception to that rule though.

It's been a long road, but people are finally realising Enterprise was good. As a long-time fan, I've had faith others would come around. Makes my heart feel big.

The show's fine, but that opening song makes me want to strangle kittens.

Yes, I know many people like it.

You mean, The Orville?

Tap for sarcasm/s

Yes, exactly! Thank you! You’ve pulled words out of my mind!

Someone donated to my Ko-fi the other day and said "Those of us that appreciate ALL Trek need to stick together!" and I agree. I may not like all of it. I've got my issues with DS9. But I love and appreciate all of it because it is fucking Star Trek! Even the worst Star Trek is better than 95% of other television out there, at least as far as I'm concerned. Again, there's an exception to every rule with Section 31 but still. Even then I appreciate it for what it is. An attempt at something new. It didn't work for me but I'm not going to fault them for trying new things when Star Trek constantly screams "EXPLORE STRANGE NEW WORLDS YOU DUMB FUCK AND BOLDLY GO WHERE NO ONE HAS GONE BEFORE YOU ABSOLUTE TWATWAFFLES"
