Apparently they just purged ICE leadership and replaced them with people from Border Patrol and Customs and Border Protection. The imperial boomerang is about to hit harder.

obama-drone "I'll write the theory."

trump-kubrick-stare "And I'll do the praxis!"

[–] Formerlyfarman@hexbear.net 46 points 2 weeks ago

Thanks obama

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 26 points 2 weeks ago

I'm reminded of how Obama declared Venezuela a threat to national security, which Trump is using to bomb fishing boats. Or how Obama built the camps and Trump is filling them.

Obama walked to Trump could run 🇺🇸

Summoned every general into a single room to call them woke and fat.

Payroll is only being met by the "donation" of a billionaire friend.

Says he's gonna ask them to blow up US civilians.

SNAP isn't going out this Saturday.

...guys, I think Trump is trying to get couped.

[–] JohnBrownsBawdy@hexbear.net 80 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

He’s not trying to get couped he’s trying to get riots going so he can call in the troops and do the shit he’s dreaming about.

[–] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 36 points 2 weeks ago

Bingo. Chuds get off on baiting people to do the stuff they want as an excuse to do even more brutal, evil things.

[–] homhom9000@hexbear.net 31 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

But when he's messing with his armed wing and purging his loyalists for being incompetent, he sabotages himself. Even before the shutdown national guard troops were bored and confused about why they were in cities.

[–] Hyper_red@hexbear.net 13 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

They're very incompetent and they think they're gonna win

This!

Him and the other monsters in power are really just looking for a reason to raze some cities and cull those they deem undesirable.

[–] ClimateStalin@hexbear.net 12 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

Yeah but he’s pissing off the guys that do the razing and culling too

[–] nothx@hexbear.net 11 points 2 weeks ago

Their plan isn’t sound, but I do feel that is still their plan.

Did they actually pay? In any case - the math didn't work. It works out to $100 a person.

An important step of fascism is manufacturing a crisis. Get rid of people’s ability to obtain food = rampant theft and “crime” = excuse to crack down

[–] redchert@lemmygrad.ml 22 points 2 weeks ago

It also helps to kill off a lot of vunerable people they already wanted to kill.

trump bombs a quincienera

Wow. Jimmy Kimmel is going to really let him have it tonight.

I can’t wait for my wedding to be drone striked.

[–] prole@hexbear.net 54 points 2 weeks ago (4 children)

If they start doing airstrikes will any country offer USAians refugee status?

[–] Aradino@hexbear.net 45 points 2 weeks ago (8 children)

Call me naïve but airstrikes against their own civilians would surely be the final straw. surely

[–] Hexamerous@hexbear.net 42 points 2 weeks ago

Can't think of a population more groomed to turn on each other. Being able to legally kill your neighbor is the real American dream.

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 42 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

And what would happen?

Would that be the moment the "good" people gather their arms against him?

Odds are likely they'll either just flee or hope to quietly wait it out

I dunno, they did an airstrike on a house in Philly and burned down an entire city block (61 buildings) and that wasn't the final straw, so who's to say

Orders are orders.

[–] jackmaoist@hexbear.net 17 points 2 weeks ago

You can always debate the drone

[–] D61@hexbear.net 12 points 2 weeks ago

The average USAian with chuddy politics is likely to be just as atomized and alone as the rest of us. Finally realizing that "things have gone too far" is going to push them to what?

I don't have faith that individuals will both radicalize and organize against their former political "friends". I'm more willing to believe that they will just go quiet, hunker down, and hope that things "get better" at some future point in time after "somebody" does "something".

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 36 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

Nato country? Doubtful. Others? Maybe the ones with refugee programs that don't have any reliance on the US.

[–] juniper@hexbear.net 30 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

At that point I would qualify as a persecuted communist, would China take me? Maybe they'd rather use me as a double agent! Hello Xi! I've got good ideas!!

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 26 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (2 children)

Maybe through UNHCR? I think you need to actually go there first though, then apply from within the country. They don't get very many applications per year:

Compare with US:

I suspect this is mostly because refugees try to flee somewhere that they speak the language.

[–] juniper@hexbear.net 15 points 2 weeks ago

Wow the difference between the two is wild, thanks for sharing. Your point about the language makes sense. I've been involved at the margins of various diaspora communities and they are a strong pull too. That kind of thing probably hasn't had enough time to develop for China.

[–] balsoft@lemmy.ml 14 points 2 weeks ago

I suspect this is mostly because refugees try to flee somewhere that they speak the language.

It's still so wild that a country of 1 billion people only received 78 refugee applications in a whole year. In comparison India got >3000 applications last year.

Wherever you're from, whatever language you speak, you will be able to find some small diaspora in a country so large.

Either something is not right with the data or there's something else going on. Maybe China has some different asylum/refugee process that's easier?

[–] BeanisBrain@hexbear.net 29 points 2 weeks ago

Others? Maybe the ones with refugee programs that don't have any reliance on the US.

Please Xi

[–] balsoft@lemmy.ml 10 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I don't think alliances are so cut-and-dry. I would assume e.g. EU countries will gladly take US refugees (because they're white enough, if nothing else)

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 15 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

It's not so simple. Doing so would involve acknowledging that the US is doing something wrong enough to warrant it. Doing so would also trigger legal repercussions in many of those countries that must automatically carry out various actions against perpetrating countries. They are more likely to look the other way and pretend the US is doing nothing wrong than they are to acknowledge that the leader of nato is carrying out such abuses that it is producing refugees.

[–] balsoft@lemmy.ml 11 points 2 weeks ago

They might call it something other than "refugees" to avoid legal issues, but in practice accepting refugees who are already close culturally, and are ready to work 12h shifts (because they've been doing so in the US already) makes financial sense. The usual right-wing opposition won't be an issue either. So it's more likely to happen than not, in my view.

[–] redchert@lemmygrad.ml 11 points 2 weeks ago

EU countries would collapse if America fell into civil war. Besides people are already hating on white Ukrainian refugees, americans wont be received that much better.

JDPON DON AT IT AGAIN

[–] gay_king_prince_charles@hexbear.net 42 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Trump has a limited amount of goodwill with the military, and it seems like he's overestimating how much of it remains. So far, he hasn't been paying his guys, pissing off high command, and other nonsense. This kind of stuff lowers morale as no servicemember joins to attack Americans. It's almost like he's trying to get himself couped.

Those evil ghouls are going to salivate at the chance to kill people in the internal colonies

[–] tactical_trans_karen@hexbear.net 23 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

I was once debased and among those ranks - never met anyone who'd be okay with just invading a US city. There's never really been a mental permission structure set up in the military for this. It was more of a sense of 'we need to protect our paradise back home' mentality.

[–] redchert@lemmygrad.ml 16 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The trope of the "inner city" hellhole which is "like Afghanistan" has been implanted for a while. The soldiers wont hesitate.

I don't believe you enough to go to the US to find out. I think with the right incentive brainwashed evil genocidal ghouls will do whatever they are told.
