Why can't you believe the guy had a nazi tattoo until last week and volunteered to spent years murdering undesirables completely changed his mind in a very convenient, opportunitic moment.

If you think about it, the real Holocaust is not believing white supremacists

The "progressive wing" of the controlled opposition branch of the single-party US state, trying to push a literal former abu ghraib (the US torture camp in Iraq) prison guard as a candidate.

All these muslim-murderers should be in prison for their crimes.

During an "active" (in public minds at least) genocide of Palestinians as well.

Hey, you ever read about the annihilation - sorry, rehabilitation of Americans by the Euro settlers? The ones they called Indian because their complexion is similar to folk from a certain other, already colonised land? This screams 'you're uncivilised and savages if you don't look, talk and quack like us'

[–] ICCrawler@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

What can you expect
From filthy little heathens?
Their whole disgusting race is like a curse

Their skin's a hellish red
They're only good when dead
They're vermin as I said, and worse

They're savages, savages

Barely even human

Savages, savages

Drive them from our shore
They're not like you and me
Which means they must be evil
We must sound the drums of war

They're savages, savages
Dirty shrieking devils

Now we sound the drums of war

Oh wow can you show me those posts where he regrets killing subhuman brown people? Surely Jacobin isn't making it all up.

In that Twitter video he says he is incredibly proud of who he has become by massacring all those innocent Iraqi civilians.

Not hearing any regret

You gotta be trolling. I'm not responding to you at this point, but posting for anyone who reads that comment without watching the video.

In the video he appologizes multiple times, condemns both wars he fought in, and says he regrets what he said and did in the past. He says his journey made him who he is today, and he's proud of who he is today.

P.S. In the Jacobin article is a screenshot of a post where he explicity condemns mistreatment/violence against innocents and civilians by the military.

You can respond if you like. I'm disengaging and will not reply.

Edit: I'm not defending a dem. I don't like the liberals. I don't necessarily believe Platner is a good guy, but this comment is misinformation and purity politics at its worst.

What timestamp in the video? Mine is 3:50

[–] BrainInABox@lemmy.ml 4 points 2 weeks ago

Plus we got all the shit he’s said about how he feels about his past here:

That article is about him distancing himself from overly left wing things he said, not sure time as a fascist storm trooper

Seeing a lot of anger in this thread, why not just let the voters fall for it again?

I can't think of a better pick to go along with Zohran the Zionist and the other electoral dead ends.

Maybe the peak irony of not only having someone who showed their colors pre-election but is a war criminal nazi will help disillusion folks from voting in bourgeois elections.

[–] PearOfJudes@lemmy.ml -5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Zohran the zionist? I can't even begin to fathom how you can believe that, he's a New York mayoral front runner who, considering he has no impact on Israel has been outspoken in calling the state genocidal, and speaking for the Palestinian people.

Life won't get any better if you are not willing to ally with the leftest, most anti Zionist politician in the West. There are people who want free healthcare and lower cost of living who voted for Trump, the left needs to come together somehow, seriously.

[–] geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml 11 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Zohran already walked back his promise to jail Netanyahu. Condemned Hamas. He will probably do nothing materially against Israel maybe get DNC imperialists their free bus treat.

Based on everything I have seen, he has remorse, as well as disgust for US foreign policy and his role in it.

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 26 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

he has remorse, as well as disgust for US foreign policy and his role in it.

You mean he claims he does.

He's had three tours in Iraq and actually went back willingly with Blackrock and said he enjoyed small wars, that he enjoyed infantry combat; when he was firing mortar into a heavily urban area and told to stop, he switched to something that couldn't be detected so he wouldn't be stopped; he would've continued using the mortars but didn't because they would've been detected the military. Does he actually have remorse for what he's done? We can disagree on that, but obviously you and I agree that he should not be allowed within a mile of political office with all this, right?

Literal Nazis were appointed in leadership roles in NATO; they claimed they were forced to serve, and perhaps they were telling the truth, but obviously we can agree that people with such backgrounds shouldn't be allowed near any kind of political office, right?

Would you trust a former member of ISIS for example when he says he's got remorse for what he's done as well as disgust for ISIS foreign (and domestic) policy? Perhaps he's telling the truth, but would you trust them in a political position? Remember, Platner has literally admitted to committing war crimes; he is literally no different than a member of ISIS.

Based on everything I have seen, he does not have either of those things.

I linked the video to provide more information for people to make up their own minds.

Can you quote these sentences

Look, if you want a monkey to dance for you, go to the zoo.

[–] geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml 7 points 2 weeks ago

Okay so you are lying and I wasted my time. Thanks for confirming.

[–] AlexLost@lemmy.world -5 points 2 weeks ago

Have you lived their way of life? How can one have an opinion so firm for something they have never experienced? Bring a slave to capitalism is t all it's cracked up to be you know. They talk a good talk but rarely do they follow through on those promises.
