Hello fellow Far Side fans!
About this community and how I post the comic strip… Many moons ago, I would ask my Dad to save the newspaper for me everyday so I could read my favorite comic strips and one of those was The Far Side. These days of course you find just about anything online including www.thefarside.com where they post several comics a day and I repost them here. Just to note, the date you see in my posts is not the initial release date, but the date they were posted on the website.
The Far Side is a single-panel comic created by Gary Larson and syndicated by Chronicle Features and then Universal Press Syndicate, which ran from December 31, 1979, to January 1, 1995 (when Larson retired as a cartoonist). I'm not sure I get it. Is there a joke in there somewhere? Please help me I think I have early onset Alzheimer's.
Maybe they're waiting for help (cause they hit the reef) and want to go snorkel while they wait

Like, even so. I'm not one to usually miss the subtle nuances as long as I understand the context or whatever, but I'm honestly completely lost on this one. Completely stumped. I've got nothing from this.
They're ignoring the fact that the boat could sink.
Oh, they aren't aware of the hull breach? I thought they meant "waiting for help".
Either way, I don't see the funny. 😐
Far Side comics* aren't very deep. They make the most sense when you don't think about them too much. Think of the dumbest, most surface-level punchline you can think of when you read one: that's usually the joke.
(But yeah I never found them all that funny myself, either, and I grew up with them. They're Boomer humor for sure.)

That's been my impression as well; I also somewhat grew up with them. About one in ten or maybe slightly more would be funny funny. Rest are 😐

I’m totally with the crew. The one time I’ve been snorkeling, it was absolutely gorgeous. The coral, the fish… I was so awestruck, I would have kept swimming to the middle of the ocean if someone hadn’t gotten my attention.
