I like to think that was intentional.
Life hack: I told them I was a conscientious objector when I was 18 and never heard from them again.
I was this 🤏 close to joining ROTC and thought real hard if I'd be willing to kill random strangers in exchange for tuition. The debt was worth it.
I also almost joined. Graduated HS slightly after 9/11 and everyone had a huge boner for the military around that time. My buddy joined and referred me. I ultimately decided against it, and it was super annoying when I'd get random calls from recruiters the next like 5 years. They were very persistent. Glad I didn't join and have to go to Iraq / Afghanistan. I quite enjoy being alive.
Now you can tell random strangers that they owe you tuition and healthcare.
So, how do these scumbags even get your number?
My number is on my PsychologyToday page and my NPI profile, so hopefully from there, but I wouldn't be surprised if they bought it from the university I went to or got access to a government database associated with my license
University is a lot more likely.

When I was signing up for the army in 2012 they asked me if I knew anyone who might wanna join, I think there was a bonus involved? Anyways I gave them no names or numbers and got nothing, not even the other bonus they promised me.
Never trust army recruiters.
Last one that reached out to me, I asked if I got to wear corporate sponsors of war on my greens like NASCAR does, and they didn't reply. :(

they own the telecoms and all tech companies..they literally have everything you do online documented and put into a profile about you.
The medical school application system, AMCAS, sells the information of every medical school applicant. I had to call the recruiters' office and explain to them that I have multiple failing organ systems and take more than 10 medications a day. I asked if they could get me a medical waiver for chronic kidney disease and they sheepishly agreed to remove my name from their list.
Specifically for medical stuff, they swipe your number and email when you take the MCAT. I was debating an MD/PhD so I took it and even never applying or getting into med school they'd randomly email me, for like 5y after.
