Hey guys, just got my Pixel 8 in. Set up has been really fluid so far, was very surprised to see that the phone even handled transferring my eSIM for me.

Anyways, the one annoying snag I'm running into is Android Messages claims my Pixel 8 is not compatible with RCS features. I've tried clearing storage on both Carrier Services and Android Messages, turning my SIM off/on, power reboots. Nothing works, this app is dead set on saying the Pixel 8 isn't RCS compatible.

Any other Pixel 8 owners running into the same issue?

UPDATE:

Well, I don't know what I did/didn't do, but RCS just started working its own. Technology is a fickle thing.

Have you deleted the eSIM information off your old phone?

Looks like the Pixels already handled that, when I check my Pixel 6 there's no eSIM to be found on it under the network&internet page.

I'm at a loss. All of my other network features work, however.

Dang. Google Messages on my 8 Pro wouldn't verify my number until I removed the eSIM from my 6 Pro. I'm assuming you did go into the settings of Messages and verified your number again?

edit: Whoops, I just noticed you edited the post saying you got it fixed

Yeah I honestly don't know what took it so long. Maybe T-Mobile just felt like being slow?

Either way, I was really stoked when the pixels set up the carrier for me. TMobile doesn't let you change/swap phones online and I really didn't feel like calling and talking to someone.

Slow RCS activation aside, this was the easiest and most hassle free phone swap I've ever done.

Did the same to me on visible. It just takes a minute to figure itself out

Its not a Pixel thing, its just a google messenger thing. I'm on a 6pro, but me, and both my parents who aren't on pixels had to screw with it, force close it, reboot etc numerous times to get it to verify. In the end on all phones it just wound up completing whenever it felt the need to.
