With the US and Russia fighting a proxy war in Ukraine for the better part of 2 years now, and Russia threatening a nuclear option that the US would respond to in kind, this is basically still the Cold War. The only thing that happened was a 22-year pause in hostilities between the fall of the USSR in 1991 and Euromaidan in 2013. Now we're back exactly as we were.
