It's the piece of the internet lore. When people asked Notch, the creator of Minecraft, to say "Nazis are bad" he couldn't do it, he had to clarify that "well actually, both Nazis and those who fought them were bad". So it became a test to see if a person really condemns an atrocity, or pretends to do so while also pretending to be above the argument.

Tbh, I wouldn't pick any of the Nazi's contemporary opponents over my current government, but that doesn't diminish the crimes the nazis did.

And I believe multiple things can be true. Hitler can be a demon who plunged a bigger part of the world with the purpose to commit genocide.

At the same time Stalin can also be a demon, who ruled brutally, killing millions of his own people.

Does one diminish the crimes of the other.

Or to put it differently: If all the other nations would have been saints or straight from hell, it wouldn't have changed the fact, that the Nazi genocide was a terrible atrocity.

And holodomor was also a terrible atrocity, independent the Nazi genocide.
