Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-TIL posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

The existence of the G-spot as a distinct structure has not been proven, nor has the source of female ejaculation.[4][5] Although it has been studied since the 1940s,[2] disagreement persists over its definition and location.[4][6][7] The G-spot may be an extension of the clitoris, which may be the actual cause of vaginal orgasms.[7][8][9] Sexologists and other researchers are concerned that women may consider themselves to be dysfunctional if they do not experience G-spot stimulation, and emphasize that not experiencing it is normal.[5]

The lack of study of women's anatomy is abysmal.

The clitoris wasn't fully anatomically described until 2005.

Unfortunately there surrounds a whole lot of stigma around studying the female sex of humans. We know more about how one of horses or cows function, because if someone is seeking funding to study the human female sex there is an immediate opinion you're just a perv.

I read a few interviews about this quite a while ago, I'll try to find them...

If I remember correctly Sexologist Dr. Lindsey Doe has a story from her time as a student where she was in a lecture where a dude was talking about there being no evidence of a G-Spot, and joking about squirting as a concept being a made up porn gag, and she's sitting in the auditorium being like "but I experience G-Spot orgasms and squirt, like... often" 😅

Now, to be fair to the field at least a little bit, I understand why maybe she didn't want to stand up and shout "I routinely hammer my G-Spot and squirt all over the place" in front of her peers, and even in a clinical environment I could imagine it's not the most orgasm-conducive setting to have a bunch of electrodes and cameras and stuff setup and then to be like "okay, now please show us all what it's like at home. Anytime. We're all ready to watch"

Before I met her, my wife went to an anatomy course in which the teacher apparently said women couldn't have kinks (though I believe the word used was "philia").

[–] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 1 points 10 minutes ago

I wonder how many of these teachers telling others that women don't like sex were just in denial about their own dead bedroom at home. "Oh honey, nono, it's not you, it's that women just aren't interested in sex in general! Now go off and earn your paycheck, I need to give some special instructions to the pool boy. You know how particular I am about the state of our pool!"

[–] psycotica0@lemmy.ca 2 points 41 minutes ago

Oh clearly! It's just simple science! Philia are stored in the balls. 😉

[–] SharkWeek@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Sounds about right. Like confidently claiming that women getting wet isn't a real thing ...

[–] Pat_Riot@lemmy.today 4 points 2 hours ago

My doctor wife said...

[–] xkbx@startrek.website 34 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

I always forget this fact because it’s so incredulous. Then I re-learn it every time. I’m not looking forward to Alzheimer's

[–] velma@lemmy.blahaj.zone 17 points 18 hours ago (3 children)

I carry this factoid with me out of pure rage and spite.

[–] funkajunk@lemmy.world 4 points 12 hours ago

Despite all my rage I am still just a clit in a cage

[–] ArchEngel@lemmy.ca 2 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago) (1 children)

Well, here's another fun little fact for you to carry around then (that I learned recently and gained mild rage for):

Factoid

Invented claim or trivial fact

A factoid was originally defined to mean a false statement presented as a fact. In colloquial speech, it is often used to mean a true but brief or trivial item of news or information.

[–] velma@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 hours ago

I think this falls under “a true but brief item of information”

[–] Aeao@lemmy.world 9 points 17 hours ago (2 children)

We also use male dummies in most tests so try not to need your seat belt or ever need cpr if you are a woman

[–] Aeao@lemmy.world 14 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

People can hesitate because… boobs. And that hesitation can be deadly.

[–] Gerudo@lemmy.zip 4 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

It's common enough that The Pitt even had this happen to a patient.

[–] ryannathans@aussie.zone 2 points 14 hours ago (1 children)
[–] Galapagon@sh.itjust.works 1 points 13 hours ago

Yes, and it's a great scene.

[–] ryannathans@aussie.zone 2 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

How do dummies with boobs help people concerned about touching unconscious women's chests

[–] lolrightythen@lemmy.world 0 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

I declined Heimlich practice because my training partner was a particularly large chested female. I was about 23 and her crew leader. She was prob 22.

Nope!

[–] ryannathans@aussie.zone 2 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Why? You don't even touch their boobs or chest?

[–] lolrightythen@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago

It would have been difficult not to in this case. And it was in front of a whole bunch of people. I was young and uncomfortable with it. She was too.

[–] velma@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Yep and that's still true to this day

[–] 13igTyme@piefed.social 4 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

I remember reading an article a few months ago that they finally made female crash test dummies.

And God shuffled his feet.

The album name has been burned into my brain just like burn-in on an old LCD happens.

[–] Zorque@lemmy.world 1 points 15 hours ago

I mean, Ellen Reid joined in the late eighties/early nineties...

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 12 points 17 hours ago

That's because 99% of it is inside the body, surrounding the vaginal area. I'm surprised at the wiki stating it "might" be the source of vaginal orgasms. It's a huge mass of nerves around the area... yeah, it might be what's doing it.

[–] velma@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 17 hours ago

Speak for yourself ;)
