No, they've literally been touting the fact that they cleaned the monument as a major achievement on twitter over the last few days. That's it.

I imagine there is daily maintenance in the giant open pool of stagnant water. That's pretty required

That's the actual problem that isn't getting fixed. The whole plumbing/filter system is supposedly in need of replacement, but instead of doing the required work, it -- like everything else -- is just getting a paint job and increased toxicity.
Nah, they've been spray painting the pool blue and then they refilled it.
