I've heard this exact line of thought used entirely unironically :agony:

Funnily enough they never say that about Jesus.

Fact is there is far more revisionism in the biblical texts regarding Jesus' word. It's an interesting comparison to be sure.

If people were strictly to adhere to the parts supposedly actually attributed to just Jesus the man then Christianity would not have taken such a dark turn.

If people were strictly to adhere to the parts supposedly actually attributed to just Jesus, the Roman Empire would have never adopted Christianity as its official religion.

That's because christofascists justify every atrocity done by Christians either by saying that they weren't real Christians or that it was justified because Muslims are uniquely more evil than Christians.

they weren’t real Christians

This is actually really common not only among the christofash, i even hear it here quite often, somehow people forget "The purpose of a system is what it does" when it comes to religion in general and christianity in particular.

Or that it wasn't wrong because "God ordered it."

I've yet to have anyone explain to me why God commands people to defy his Law. "Do not kill" or "Kill them all and leave no survivors"? Somehow they think these are compatible??
