This thanksgiving I’m working hard to still try to set a precedent I am a grown adult worthy of respect. This transcends politics to some extent. I’m on Mac and Cheese duty after being encouraged to do so by someone I used to date (but we agreed to keep things platonic, the spark just wasn’t there.) Also offering to help with the dishes after the meal. Bringing an item as if I was living on my own AND helping out with dishes is a good start. If the humiliation ritual begins, I’m gassing up my most recent interview.

This is more of a personal struggle rather than a political one. I just want to be taken seriously as an adult, no matter how much it feels like adulthood has been denied to me.

Yeah, thankfully neither politics nor my current state were ever talking points, and the mac and cheese I made was a hit…and now it’s my thing to make.

Hope everyone else’s thanksgiving was equally as painless.
