Well that's my point, as a child unless you have type 1, you tend to be able to eat as much sugar as you want without harmful effects. Only parents hold you back.
As an adult you have no parents telling you not to do you could theoretically eat as much as you want (OPs point)... Unless you have type 2 in which case your blood glucose levels need to be considered so you can't just eat as much as you want long term.
