Those "three separate occasions" were just him spamming z to a user he was arguing with. This isn't about critical support for Russia, it's just that users aren't allowed to spam zero effort replies to a good faith actor, and that doing so is dumb and childish.
Good point. I didn't notice they were all from the same thread. That does change things. You're right.
The removal reasons misled me, because they don't cite spam; they cite "idealism" and being "unironically pro-Russia". I've familiarized myself with the full context now, and I still don't think those characterizations^[I'm speaking of the arguments made in that thread. I don't know if they vocalized uncritical support for Russia elsewhere] are accurate. The removals are okay though.
The block button exists and i don't think mods should remove stuff just because it's rude or childish. If someone is being spammed and they don't want to be they have the power to make it stop.
I'm so incredibly tempted to reply to this with "ok" a few dozen times, but I recognize that other users would appreciate it if I didn't clog the thread with nonsense. Also, if your approach to spam is "just block them", why not do that for liberalism or rule violations. After all, you can just block that. Personally, if a comment makes the site any less enjoyable, I'd like it removed.
Lots of comments and even some users make the site less enjoyable for me, but I don’t want them banned because I can either accept that some people like things that I don’t like, or simply curate my own enjoyment.
This is extremely subjective
Yeah. I'm not saying that this should be our moderation policy, I'm just saying that "bad stuff gets deleted, good stuff stays" is the fundamental principle behind moderation.
Okay bye then threaten me get blocked
This is silly.
