I recall the days living in the middle of nowhere Canada, early high speed (1.5Mbps), be lucky to find something around 140. It's wasn't all that bad at the time, early 2000s and distance sure didn't help cause most servers were in the US. Definitely was better than dial up in the early early days.
Also from middle of nowhere Canada but island flavored (woo NFLD). Same fucking problems.
