Found a reddit post from Platner describing his unit in Iraq being ordered to stop using mortars in high density urban areas.
He devised a method to use mk19 grenade launchers to evade detection by command. "It wasn't the most accurate system" he says, but he still used it.
Trying to imagine what it's like to be this variety of war criminal. What happens when you and your fellow colored wax pencil enthusiasts blow up a civilian? You just look at each other, shrug, and say "let's try to aim better next time"? What kind of person is even able to live with themselves when doing this, let alone seek out loopholes to continue doing it against orders?
You're not familiar with just how evil these people are, I guess. The reaction is more like
"FUCK yeah bro, look at the way that slur splattered! Nice shot! We should head for that elementary school next!"
Starting to think the troops are bad.
There's that famous video of British troops literally beating up Iraqi schoolchildren on their way back home while their (the soldiers obviously) compatriots cheer in the distance.
These people are reminders that no, not everyone understands the world in the view that they're the good guys; some people just see the world as 'I'm superior and they're inferior, and that makes it okay to do what I want with them'.
