Well we are post Internet now, so discovering things and sharing them has flown out the window.

I'm not seeing a difference between chest emulators and being able to mod the game. It's often not up to the developer whether their game gets modded. Done are easier than others, but there's usually ways to change things

Mods are often operating system dependent and need executables to be installed sometimes, which I often do not trust. Sometimes mods require ton of space or are complicated to install or are not compatible to each other too. You need to do backup of game files, update the game and the mod if needed and so on. Also game consoles have a harder time to mod the games too.

I would prefer if some functionality was integrated, let's say cheats or any thing other for that matter.
