Don't get me wrong, I respect whales. But I also find them kind of terrifying.

They give me alien vibes. It doesn't help that some eassentially have hair for teeth and are the size of a battleship.

No, they're incredibly beautiful creatures and I weep terribly for how we've mistreated them for so long

They talk to each other. They have names they refer to each other with and form large family groups. I honestly feel they should be afforded the same basic rights as human beings, just to criminalize bringing harm to them internanationally.

It's true the international ban on whaling is only from the late 80s. I feel like it's something people think has been around for a hundred years but no, like only one generation of whales has ever been not hunted by humans.

Not to mention the barbarous countries that never stopped hunting whales, Norway and Japan.
